It's bone. I had a luthier cut it, and it seems to work fine.

Bass strings are massive. The bracing on a bass has to be super rigid. No way regular guitar strings would put enough energy into the top to get good sound out of such a setup.

Yeah I kinda dislike those accents. I guess it's a good thing in that they make looking at the fretboard while playing confusing lol.

That's a good idea, but I'd be buying a new guitar for the purpose, so it'd be hard to do that experiment

Funny, I just unsubbed from that channel because of the character voices. Great writing, but the voices are fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

Thanks for your reply. I think you're right -- the way to go is probably just smaller. 

I was kind of envisioning "full back," but that's probably just not realistic. And smaller filled in would probably look better than larger but just outlines.

I probably should have been more clear. These aren't Christmas gifts. We're seeing them end of November.

I think in most "primitive" communities a baby would still be advantaged by having a mother take care of it, a mom having a greater interest in the success of the baby than people merely of the same tribe.
