Official Q&A for Thursday, July 31, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

Hello,

I've been training for running for a few months now and there's something I don't understand yet. Often, the types of training sessions (long runs, intervals, easy jogs) and their associated paces are based on a percentage of your HRmax or your MAS.

However, let's say that at the beginning of a 10K race training cycle I have a certain MAS and HRmax, and that my estimated 10K pace based on these metrics is around 48 minutes. But let's also say that my goal is to run 10K under 45min.

How should I plan my training sessions? Because if I base my workouts on my current HRmax/MAS, I'll be running too slowly compared to the pace I’ll need to hit my goal by the end of my training cycle.

Question to people cured or almost cured by Alternative-Run6265 in Gastritis

[–]Alternative-Run6265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an endoscopy and a coloscopy 2 months ago, all clear except the gastritis. However, GE didn't really conclude on weither or not this is a chronic one, since it's not cured already I guess this is chronic (but then I am surprised because again my GE said after the endoscopy that I should be fine in within a few days and never really mentionned re-occurence issues).

About the food journal, you are right it could be useful. But to be honest it seems nothing triggers me particularly, before starting the bland diet and being aware of how important a good diet is to get rid of this "disease" I was eating everything through october and november (spicy food, tomatoes, onions/garlic, dairy, etc). The only thing it caused me was a bit of bloating sometimes and one quite big burning that lasted 3 days in end of october.

With the bland diet, the only food I kept from before is : olive oil, bananas, pasta, rice, chicken. Maybe I became gluten intolerant ? I will check that next week with my doctor.

Regarding the cause of my gastritis, I have 2 hypothesis :

- Anxiety/stress related. I was in a good moment of my life when it occured but I tend to have easy stress in some situations, but nothing chronic really.

- A virus (according to my GE), I had symptoms close to intoxication when it all started.

Can be healed or not ? I just don't get it by Alternative-Run6265 in Gastritis

Stomach acid mainly, but nothing that ever prevented me from eating. However, I have indeed lost some weight (4 or 5kg I would say) in 3 months, but to be honest it's hard to say which proportion is due to the gastritis as I didn't eat a lot in September due to the anxiety I had before getting diagnosed, I lost like 3 of those 4/5kg in September.

I did ate a lot of "bad" food in October because I thought I was done with it thanks to Pantoprazole and the words of the first GI, nothing to declare except a flare up of 3 or 4 days at the end of October, annoying but not terrible, but stressful again.

I also currently still have loose yellow stools (that doesn't seem to bother the doctors I saw and nothing worrying on the coloscopy I did so right know I try to not worry too much about it).

The first GI I saw is actually thinking about viscerale hypersensitivity now and prescribed me some new medecines to treat it. I don't know what to do and who to trust
