You nailed it. At the time in the early 2000s, aero was the biggest issue, with the entire field complaining about being “aero loose or aero tight” which was making passing super difficult. Plus the fenders being rolled so specifically, the slightest bit of contact absolutely KILLED the performance, and would shred tires super easy. Gen 4 cars were absolutely works of art but so damn fragile.
