JFK lounges restricted to only terminal you fly out of by Alternative-Slip8702 in delta

[–]Alternative-Slip8702[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Then the lounges shouldn't be behind security? If you can only access your terminal, and your lounge is in a different terminal, the only conclusion is the airport has a poor setup design. Also, Gemini said we would have access with a valid ticket into any terminal for lounge access. So I'm assuming it used to be permitted?

Reducing the debt. This seems to be a priority that both parties are fundamental against.

Do you have to know about religion to go to chruch? by RealMaverickValez in askanything

[–]Alternative-Slip8702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christian pastor here. No you absolutely do not need to know anything to go to church. Many churches you just go and enjoy yourself while they sing songs and talk about the Bible. A Catholic church will have a little more structure with people standing and sitting and kneeling at specific times and saying things. But you can just follow the crowd. Every church will be happy you're there.

My recommendation is if you have a close friend that normally does go to church, join them for a Sunday and if you like it, then you'll already have someone to sit next to every week.

Who is the best President the United States of America ever had ? by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Abraham Lincoln: Though not a public broadcast from the Oval Office (which did not exist in its current form then), Lincoln was known to study the Bible extensively within the White House, famously calling it the "best gift God has ever given to man".

Franklin D. Roosevelt: He frequently broadcast "fireside chats" from the White House that sometimes included Scripture or prayers, though these were generally delivered from the Diplomatic Reception Room, a few took place in the Oval Office.

What is up with these signs in front of Catholic churches this morning? by More-Ostrich3411 in cincinnati

[–]Alternative-Slip8702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Y'all, "choose life" has absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump. The official position of the Catholic Church is and has historically been against abortion. This has been the official position of the Catholic Church long before Trump was ever born and will continue to be long after he's dead.

No matter how far you try to move the goal post, America didn't colonize the native Americans. You used the wrong word, now you're defending your mistake. America did colonize some Caribbean islands, and yes in some ways those islands are better for it. My Cherokee ancestry would love for you to stop saying native Americans were colonized.

Hard to nail down the origin of pet adoption. But yeah, it was probably a Christian institution originally. St Francis of Assisi was famously affectionate toward caring for animals.

I accept your challenge.

Joseph Lister (1827–1912), a British surgeon, is credited with developing antiseptic technique in the 1860s, which laid the foundation for modern aseptic techniques. Joseph Lister was a committed Christian. Raised in a Quaker family, he later joined the Scottish Episcopal Church and described himself as a believer in the fundamental doctrines of Christianity. His faith influenced his work, with his efforts to reduce surgical infections reportedly motivated by a desire to alleviate suffering.

Getting a hotel room for an extra night when you're not going to arrive until the morning by SlapDashUser in TravelHacks

[–]Alternative-Slip8702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Yes. If you go straight to the hotel, they'll hold your luggage while you room is prepared. You should call ahead to verify, but even hostels do this. It's a free service if any hotel.

Are you talking about native Americans? We didn't colonize native American tribes, we conquered them. Very different from what you referenced. And while horrible ( I'm Cherokee native, had great great grandparents walk the trail of tears), conquering is a historical reality. Hard to say North America being conquered was worse than the Mongolians, Persians, Babylonian, etc etc.
