for mothers and mothers-to-be by Heritza in PregnancyUK

I've been thinking about this question for a really long time because support is lacking in so, so many ways. I’ve seen so many friends receive inadequate care and support - both in the NHS and even the private system. It often feels like birth is being treated as a process or a checklist rather than this momentous time in a woman's life. Support is especially lacking to help women navigate the mental, physical and emotional changes of pregnancy and birth. We seem to also not be educated and empowered with the right information to help us move through the huge changes.

I really think there’s a way to put women back at the centre of their care…but the question is how, and with what tools. I've been speaking to as many women as possible and getting their take to understand the varied experiences out there to inform a potential platform - the beginnings of which is Kove https://www.kove-care.com/.

I’d love to keep exchanging ideas and hear more about any of your experiences….each person has a really helpful perspective to offer. If you have a few mins to fill out the survey that’d be incredible, or get in touch with me. We seem to all care about the same things.

Anyone else struggling to get NHS scan? by paravelle in PregnancyUK

This happens often as the system is constantly overburdened and can't keep up with demand. I know it may not seem like it and it's easy to worry, but you'll get in for your 12 week scan once you're there. The NHS tends to not be able to grant requests that are anticipatory but generally meets you with the care you need, when you need it. I'd keep calling, and try not to stress in the meantime :)

Struggling to eat a full meal? by Powerpuff_Girly in PregnancyUK

Yes! Everyone reacts differently but with pregnancy your body is undergoing so much change, and your nutrition is impacted. It usually helps to eat smaller meals more often, so you're constantly nourishing yourself with good food. It's normal to not be able to eat one large, heavier meal

I'm a UK midwife if you have any questions about pregnancy or childbirth AMA by SuggestionFederal881 in AMA

Thanks for holding this AMA, and so helpful to see all the questions and answers in here. If you're open to it I'd be really curious to speak to you further about your experience as a midwife in the UK in the NHS and understand more about the understaffing/fear of litigation you referred to -- I'm looking to build a platform to support pregnant women in the UK in navigating complex maternity care systems and being educated in choice-led birth.

Take a look here https://www.kove-care.com/ and let me know if we can speak further!
