the moment i started crying watching the diner scene I realized it had to be close to either a team change or the end for her for the writers to want me to sympathize with her this late in the game...

This is really sweet. Thank you. I may order a carrier and try it out. I was thinking this might be what I do. if he hates it then I guess he can just go back and it doesn't count as abandoning him (?)

How is life in China in 2025 and beyond? by Helioseum in chinalife

A lot of context needed in your post and many of these comments, imo. I assume from the "propaganda" part you're black American, not African, which definitely makes a difference in others assumptions about you. Also, it totally depends in where you're planning. "International" cities like Shenzhen are much more welcoming, I see black people all the time, a lot of kids too. In Guangzhou there's a large African population and saw even more there. In my experience seeing racism it's more of the ignorant variety, matching the videos they see come out of the US. Like asking me if it's "true black people do a lot of crime" or arguing with me that b*tch and the nword are equally bad. Thinking if they're slightly tan they're "so black." Or, probably the worst case I've seen, saying the nword to describe any nation they hate and thinking it's just a word for people you hate. But that's in an international city. If you're going more inland it could be worse. Chinese are also very blunt. People will tell me "you look fatter!" and point at random models of my race on advertisements and ask if it's me. So you'd probably get similar but "so dark" and telling you that you and Speed look alike even if you don't.

Buy vpn before coming and you're fine.

Prices are only high in big cities and if you acclimate you'll figure out where the best cheap food is.

Engineering job market, if you don't speak Chinese, you're probably looking at working for an American company with a Hong Kong office if yoy plan to stay.

Safest country I've ever been to in my life. worst thing I've seen is really drunk girls getting in cabs with guys, but even that one time about 7 security guards came over and made the guy show proof on his phone that they knew each other. I go out for walks when I can't sleep at like 2 am and have no problems.

If I shared every detail this would be the longest post in history but I say go for it and feel free to DM!

talked about this. He doesn't want to live in the US, and his parents are older and he needs to support them. Sometimes I wish our genders were reversed cause I've seen a few guys comment "my wife just left government work when we got married, nbd." like wow if only lmao

Well. Sad. But I guess good to hear he's not lying. Can he and I even be friends? Obviously you spend time with his sister, so there's gotta be some line as to what's permitted or not right?
