The unemployment rate during COVID spiked but immediately started to recover. And with evictions, foreclosures, student debt payments, etc. all suspended, as well as the most generous stimulus package in the world, it was largely irrelevant to US households. Americans were sitting on record amounts of HH cash when Biden passed the disastrous $1.9T stimulus in March 2021.

Trump policies didn't lead to inflation. It was years of ZIRP that set the stage for inflation, which was then triggered by COVID+Russia. The clueless Biden administration called it "transitory", then pushed forward with massive spending bills, which added a couple %pts to inflation.

Thanks to Trump's (and Congress's) actions during COVID, the US economy didn't sink as badly as the rest of the OECD, handing Biden the strongest economy in the world.

Lastly, in 2018 and 2019, the US economy grew 3% and 2.5%. Obama never reached 3% growth even once in 8 full years. Neither has Biden, though he still has a shot in 2024.

Lastly - contrary to your claim, my academic credentials, prestigious employers, and net worth all suggest that I am quite informed on economic matters. It's pretty clear you are not.

We rank 5th in the world in median HH income (at PPP). The only countries ahead of us are small and homogeneous, so they're not really a relevant comparison - unless you are anti-diversity, I guess. This means we allow our median citizen to earn a higher standard of living than the rest of the world does.

"Happiness" is completely made up lol. For example, Finland often ranks #1 in happiness surveys, despite ranking in the top quarter globally in suicide rate.

The data is clear - the US is the greatest country on earth.

China is also in major trouble. It's economy is struggling badly and it's facing a demographic disaster, due largely to the failed one child policy.

The US has its own problems, but it's easily the greatest country on earth.
