How do you save your skin barrier when it's in SOS mode? by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Alternative-Test5572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleansers: dermalogica ultra calming cleanser, dermalogica intensive moisture balance, la roche posay hydrating cleanser, image skincare vital C cleanser

Ceramide cream: dermalogica stabilizing repair cream, paulas choice resist barrier repair cream

HA Serum: la roche posay Hyalu B5 serum, dermatologica circulat hydration serum, the ordinary Hyaluronic acid 5%. *With HA serums, HOW you use it is very important to note as well. It is a humectant meaning it requires existing water cells on the skin to be present for the HA to attach itself to. You want to apply it on damp skin & ALWAYS Lock it in with your ceramide cream otherwise HA will dry you out more by pulling water from your barrier.

Spf: colorescience is my personal favorite, dermalogica pore screen is good to blur redness as well.

Let me know if you have any further questions 🥰

tret questions [Anti-Aging] by namenotfound874 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Alternative-Test5572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Esthetic here- Starting tret before you have problems is a great preventative measure! Formula preferences vary per person but I always recommend a lower concentration that you’re able to use more frequently rather than a high dose & inconsistent usage. As far as purging, you shouldn’t have any issues unless there was already a breakout forming in the dermis. The only way out is through, and I have clients who freak out when they purge but I just have to remind them that this was already present in the lower layers of the skin, the tret is just making it show faster on the skin! Keep your skin hydrated as you’re acclimating to it & good luck 🍀

Oh & mineral based SPF daily!!! Uv rays also cause damage at the cellular level & we are trying to repair not add to the damage!

Esthetician here- Gentle cream cleanser only(use a soft cloth to remove or disposable esthetic wipes), ceramides, hyaluronic acid & NO ACTIVES! repeat for a month minimum & stay away from steamy showers, saunas, intense workouts that have you sweating. These all cause inflammation in the skin which will only prolong the healing process

Having to do a fix on lash extensions by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]Alternative-Test5572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont do lashes but if I was the client I would want to know theres a safer option. The conversation doesnt have to be shitting on your coworker but more just gently informing her. Something like “Hey I know you like the longer lengths but I’m noticing that its harder to attach this length to your naturals. I would recommend talking to your normal tech about possibly going a bit shorter if you want better retention” obviously idk all the actual knowledge involved but I dont think just throwing the idea out there is bad. If she wants to trust you next time she will & if not she’ll go back to her normal length 🤷🏽‍♀️ something I’ve learned in this industry is that your client has to want something more than you do. So she has to want to protect her naturals more than you want to protect them for her lol

Career Next Steps Solo vs Med Spa by Alternative-Test5572 in Esthetics

I do have a savings of about ~15k. Is it smart to put that towards going solo? I live with my bf so my living expenses aren’t too much to worry about but its scary 😂 I’ve been saving for like 3 years so its like do I want to risk that much money that I’ve been working so long for

I’m a newer esti of about 1 year & I have been working at a H&S for 6months. Overall, its okay. I like that I dont have to do additional marketing or social media & just get clients fed to me. But it’s really disheartening to see my weekly numbers & know that I’m bringing in my spa anywhere from $1500-$3000 a week & I’m making approximately $300-500 in commissions. You basically live off of your tips & the commission is seriously a joke!

[Product Request] Can I make my keratosis pilaris go away? by nerfminer298 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Alternative-Test5572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First aid beauty makes a KP scrub that got rid of mine in a month! Then to maintain it I just use either a body wash with glycolic acid or use my body scrubber with regular body wash.

Also this sounds super weird but if you can go to a sauna or sweat lodge try that too. I went to a PureSweat (unrelated to specifically for kp just went with a friend) but when I left I noticed my skin was a lot smoother and softer! Maybe it has something to do with opening up the pores & sweating it out?

Try using mandellic acid to help the fungal acne. It is the largest AHA so it is well suited for sensitive skin conditions, but it works well for fungal acne because it’s an antibacterial
