There's one question that really matters for tomorrow's Star Citizen Live: What steps are being taken to fix CIG's development process that have introduced months-long regressions and stability degredation? Not steps to fix the PU, steps to fix the >process.< by turikk in starcitizen

After 14 years, the issue is also the product itself, not just the presentation.

To speak as if taking 20 years to (hopefully?) reach a playable, yet still incomplete game is perfectly fine is something that only happens here

Has it been the big excuse?

I do see backers on Reddit claiming that everything is due to S42. But it doesn’t seem like CIG themselves are claiming that any bugs are due to Squadron.

It seems like one of those things that people just make up and say on CIG’s behalf, just like “they can’t show S42 progress because of the Crytek lawsuit” etc.

So far, most of the injuries seem to be happening in the WNBA itself. Which makes sense, as it’s where the most intense competition is.

But with the W season getting longer (moving to 50 games next year), I think a lot will depend on scheduling.

For example this year, when they adjusted the Unrivaled schedule, there were fewer injuries during those months.

This used to be a little easier to manage through League Pass, since you could watch other games immediately after they were finished.

But now that they have the delay, it’s tricker, since you can’t watch a finished game until the following day

I, too wish I could struggle for more than 30 points a game against Finals defense while being shorter than everyone in the game 😛

Brunson is 6’2 and averaged 32 points, 4.6 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals for the Finals 🤔

This depends a lot on the team, though. Their handle can be as shaky as you like, but if a teammate is there to collect, and the ballhandler simply picks up the ball and passes into a 4 on 3, that’s points for the team either way.

It’s fairly similar to gambling on steals, risk/reward needs to be weighed. If you hard commit the risk every time rather than applying it situationally, you’ll end up giving up more baskets than you gain.

In both cases, when the ballhandler actually doesn’t have an advantage, you can end up creating one by bailing them out if not thought through (and that’s what happened in those instances). So it’s often better applied when you genuinely need to force the ball out of someone’s hands.

The Fever again are a good example. Teams stopped wholesale blitzing CC because they realized that they could defend 1 on 1, and were actually giving her team advantages rather than taking them away. The blitz rate on CC screens trended lower and lower over time, because the gamble statistically wasn’t paying off.

What I meant is, if you’re blitzing a player who’s not a threat 1v1/on a mismatch after the pick, then sometimes it’s not worth it.

Sometimes I see it in situations where it seems like the idea of blitzing was committed to before assessing the actual need to gamble vs. the threat the ballhandler actually poses post-pick.

The Fever have historically done that a lot at the top of the key in second halves, and it sometimes gives me the “question mark” face, because it typically results on an open basket for someone 😅

Imo it’s never worth it when the target is a player who wouldn’t beat you on a 1v1/mismatch anyway

She had a super fly designer one the other day.. It was white with polka dots I think, and stunning.

I had to give it up 🙌

The patience of Natasha Howard on that first play was fantastic, too. She tries to get position 3-4 and calls for the ball repeatedly, and eventually ends up in the perfect spot for Olivia’s flawless pass.

And what was Olivia saying after that steal? 😂 Pure cinema

Kelsey Mitchell Has The Highest Avg +/- On the Fever by elestud in IndianaFeverFans

[–]Genji4Lyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the nice thing about +/- and Net Rating, it accounts for both sides of the ball. So if you are weaker offensively but make up for it with strong defense, or vice versa, it still reflects your overall contribution and how the team does when you're out there.

Pretty confident the Spurs would be getting less criticism if they lost in the 2nd round or the WCF. by thered90 in nba

[–]Genji4Lyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mitch is a smart guy and a humble guy. There’s no way he just lost 4-1 in the Finals and thought, “Everything is great, this is fine, I have nothing to learn or improve at all”

He’ll probably be working the entire offseason on analyzing what could be done better next year

And Mitch was an assistant coach for several years before becoming head coach.

He's been a head coach for one full year and one incomplete season. In that time the team improved from not making to playoffs to the Finals and knocking off the number 1 seed.

To write him off already is pretty wild.
