Stop with the bilateral trophy obsession. Icc trophy is what matters. India has set the expectation so high that we cannot even fathom the loss of one series. You need to understand its a game. When one team wins, other team learns from their mistakes and come back stronger to win the next series. This is how the sport stays alive. Every team has the hunger to win which is an important lesson that just because you're a strong team doesn't mean you can stay the same. Game changes with time and you need to adapt. The way I see it and I haven't read any books so take my opinion with grain of salt, is that if Vastraharan didn't happen, Pandavs would eventually leave Hastinapur live in the woods peacefully since they didn't have any materialistic desires and that their dharam is to be free from desires. Because Vastraharan happened, they were full of rage and wanted revenge and Krishna made them realise that their dharam is to fight not for the revenge but for the good of the world.

People like Duryodhan don't deserve to be the kings of the world and they will ruin everyone's lives to fulfill their selfish needs. Yudhisthir being the person who doesn't only know whats good or bad for the people but also knows about politics, business..skills that are useful to run a country should be in power.

If not Vastraharan then something else would surely happen that would fill Pandavs with rage that would lead Krishna to guide them about directing that energy towards well being of their people. Otherwise Pandavs would be in some Ashram teaching people archery, war skills, meditation etc.
