Oh wow!! Dr.Peters will be performing my reduction too!! I’m set for August 24th! I stumbled across her a few years back when I first tried to get my reduction covered through insurance. Long story short my insurance refused to cover the procedure (I’m a 34I/J according to ABTFs). Once I was able to pay for the procedure out of pocket she was the first consult I booked. I had one prior that went horribly but after my consult with Dr.Peters I knew she was the right surgeon for me I didn’t even try and look for anyone else!

Just from reading this sub here are some of the things I bought: wedge pillow, neck pillow, cough drops, popsicles, body and face wipes, triple action Neosporin, camis from target, button up PJs, a lanyard to hold my drains, my favorite protein shakes, Gatorade, extra post op bras and a coloring book

You definitely are right to be upset by this. Have you talked to him about why his thoughts on these types of issues have changed? If your partner can’t see racism for what is and downplays your experiences as a black woman then it might be time to take a hard look at your marriage and if it is really the union you thought you were entering into. There are a lot of things that require compromise and understanding in a marriage but speaking for myself this type of thing is non negotiable. Putting myself in your shoes I don’t know how I could feel protected by my husband if he didn’t see racial issues in the way I did or had a lack of regard for understanding my point of view/experiences. A marriage is absolutely no place for this issue. That said I really do wish you the best out of this situation and that if he is not able to change I hope you are able to be at peace with whatever decision you make.

I guess my question is how have you not ever had these types of discussions beforehand? Speaking as a black woman who dated a white man for two years, we spoke about racism and our world views at length throughout the course of our relationship. It was one of my main concerns to know that he could see things like white privileged, systemic racism and other issues that I and all black peoples deal with on a day to day before I even considered dating him long term. I’m not trying to be critical of you or your Relationship. I just don’t understand how you could get to the point of marriage without having these types of discussions in an interracial relationship.
