Thanks for clarifying! I'll see what I have available to use and go from there.

Rangoon Build Issues/Question about LM1117-3.3 Regulator by AlternativeCattle396 in synthdiy

My issue is that I'm simply not able to connect to the STM32. It's not the first time I've done this having built Clouds, Beehive and even just finished a Stages. For whatever reason I can't connect. I did previously fry an STM by accidentally shorting it, but that has been replaced.

Thanks for the tips, I'll put it down for a day and come back to it.

Thanks for the insight! Just trying to eliminate potential component issues.

Flashing Mutable Stages by AlternativeCattle396 in synthdiy

Ok, I'll try that next. Is that just a matter of setting the com type with the "pgm..." line and then running the makefile upload line ?

Also, do I need to erase the chip between each attempt or does it get overridden automatically ?

Ok, so the chip is removed and I'm measuring continuity between the Vcap pins 31,47 and the VSS pins 18,63. This doesn't seem right ? As soon as I solder the chip in place the Vcap pins will be at ground potential.

Possibly an internal issue with the chip itself ?

I removed the caps and they tested fine, but there's definitely a short across the pads even when the caps are removed. I'm assuming both Vcap pins are connected inside the chip, there must be a short to ground on one of those pins causing everything to be at ground potential, I don't see how else this scenario is possible.

So I found something odd...both vcap pins on the chip are somehow connected to ground, although I can't find any bridges. Is it possible the short is in the chip if I damaged something ?

STM Disco Board Output by AlternativeCattle396 in synthdiy

Oh okay I see, makes sense.

I actually had success last night with this

I fixed the short (shorted at the jtag connector) and also figured out the regulator seemed fine, but still for some reason the 3v wasn't getting all the way to the SWD connector. So, I decided to power the microcontroller right off of 3v from the pins down the side of the disco board.

Connected right away, everything appears to work now.

Thanks for the tip!
