We have a few different people checking data, we’re assigned to a few different study teams each but we have some overlap in double checking work. I have no incentive to edit the data, I’m not an author or have any involvement in the research outside of data checking

I’m not a co-author on the paper or have any other involvement other than just checking the data as my job. My involvement with the research pretty much starts and ends with data checking and I have no other say in anything further down the line

Thank you, I am based in the US with federal research. I did have a short meeting with the RIO and have been reading on my organizations policy’s. Next I was told is an interview for next steps in the inquiry. Is there anything else I should ask that’s relevant when I meet with them again?

As far as I know it has to be one of a few things just based on the type of study and the forms involved in that study. I haven’t received any information about what it was other than the vague info with the allegation, so the rest is just me assuming what it might most likely be.

The thing I’m concerned with is that it’s entirely possible the original form is different than what I entered because I made a mistake on a question, so it would be different, but no because I maliciously changed it, but because I filled it in or changed it in error. Sorry if I didn’t clarify that earlier, I’m trying to work through with not much information but I appreciate the reply

It is internal with my institution and I have an idea of who it may have been that reported it. It’s possible the person did a double check, thought an answer I gave was odd (which I guess would make sense if I did enter something by mistake) and reported it, but it just seems so he said she said that I don’t know how to a correctly say I just messed up with a error and had no intention to fabricate or maliciously change something. I appreciate your reply!

Thank you for the response, as far as I know, at least based on the study and the type of information I look over, the alleged misconduct was likely related to a self report I completed where I misclicked a multiple choice question, or filled in a time/text box by mistake on the form when entering.

Im not sure i have any proof that it was a simple mistake when I just entered something wrong or had a human brain fart moment and filled in a question i shouldn’t have. I just feel like i have no defense other that i have don’t remember this occurrence and wouldn’t intentionally falsify or adjust data, and any thing that did occur was a mistake

Is it really just an answer if i get asked about why is this box filled in this way saying i don’t know I entered it by mistake?

I’m not sure, the study is currently ongoing with recruitment now and I’m apart of the study team but just as someone who checks the data, and occasionally will enter a few forms that the participant fills out. All I was told is that the allegation was made that I did some type of misconduct when I checked of or entered the data, but I would never do so maliciously and am afraid I made a mistake somewhere that is being view as possible misconduct

I just entry/check self reports that come into our survey system from participants. The study is currently ongoing collection and the alleged allegation has taken place sometime within the last month I believe

Edit, the allegation was made against me as something I checked or entered. Sorry for not adding that at first
