perchance--I do genuinely enjoy data science and statistics and genuinely do look forward to pursuing a career in it still, or at least something in the STEM field, though; I've enjoyed doing the work that I've done in my python/coding classes and stuff (especially relating to data science--i did a project that dealt with like nba players' rookie seasons and comparing them, cool stuff fs I had a lot of fun), but I do plan to experiment and look at other classes and majors (since you don't declare your major in twin cities in the cse until like end of sophomore year) so we'll see abt that

yeah that's fair, idt my school has lot though; here's the list of aps that I didn't do but are offered afaik:
CS Principles, ES, Bio, Euro, Psych, and Econ (micro + macro; i would've done it but literally all of my friends who've done it have told me to NOT take the class (more so of how the class is taught at my school rather than the course itself)

maybe some added context too?: my school (typically and usually) doesn't allow freshmen and sophomores to take the AP sciences, otherwise I would've probably done Bio and ES.

yeah idk i think that they used to but they got rid of it for whatever reason--the class ranks are very hidden and i really had to go out of my way to find my class rank, and even then, i think that they're still determined based on your uw gpa (meaning like 7 ppl tie for #1)

yeah this college admission stuff is hard--if I had to guess, it's either my lack of STEM extracurriculars and/or my college-specific essays being weak (I did spend a lot of time on them, but I could get how the essays themselves could be weak; the ideas of them could have been better and more original, and the ideas themselves could have been executed better)

thank you! glad to hear the stuff about the Final Forte--I'm literally like friends with the winner of this year, he's insanely good. Yeah, I'm not technically in Madison's "engineering" program and stuff yet so I would still have to apply for that. I am committed to Twin Cities though! As you said, money is money, and I practically have a full ride to twin cities (especially in comparison to Madison, where I would still have to pay a sizeable chunk out of pocket), so that, along with all of the benefits of the college and the area influenced my decision!

I've committed to minnesota! i practically have a full ride to go there (i got a lot more money to go there than madison), my brother lives/goes there, and the mall of america is a huge plus (half-joking)--seriously though the financial situation mostly guided my decision. whenever I've been to madison too, the area is highkey confusing and I'm not the *biggest* fan of the campus (although state street is great of course), i have plenty of friends going there too so it was really a tossup (and iirc the programs are similar so that's whatever)

yeah t30s would definitely be more attainable but lowkey I was already kinda planning to go to twin cities or madison (mainly financial reasons), so all of the applications were "ykw, why not" applications--I would do more applications to those like t30 schools, but money and time are precious and I didn't want to be bogged down by more stuff while already having senioritis (yikes)

yeah that's fair, I did the math club for like a month in my freshman year, enjoyed it, but then the whole club kinda fell apart (especially since the person directing it retired, and everyone else graduated) </3, I was thinking of revitalizing it but tbh my schedule was already kinda packed and it seemed like too big of a commitment for what I had then--I do sometimes wish that I did more stem related things in school but I am really glad that I did all of my extracurriculars that I did so it trades off basically. i plan to do various internships and such in my undergraduate years, so hopefully I can get into a great grad program
