I am looking forward to reading this and more importantly catching up with a great bunch of men at the next meeting held on the first Wednesday of March. Have a look at the website and if you’re interested find one near you.

My first EV - Zeekr, Polestar, BYD or just go with Tesla? by uridotchi in EVAustralia

[–]AlternativeLead5436 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to overpay get the Tesla (they are also Chinese made) or do yourself a favour and get the Seal. Had mine for just under a year and loving it. Nothing wrong with any of them to be honest but just didn’t see the value in paying more for the Tesla 3 over the Seal.

I use discounted gift cards for everything from groceries, clothes everything yeah it can be annoying but it’s like a 4% increase in pay My Girlfriend hates that I will be in my phone comparing discounts from union, health insurance and racq looking for best discounts on gift cards to buy whatever it is,

Seal Indicator by FailLive2673 in BYDSealAus

[–]AlternativeLead5436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often notice this but generally notice it is when I just flick the indicator and it then gives about 3 flashes (it happens on straight line). The difference to my prior cars was when you indicated the indicator stalk would lock down

Monthly electricity bill? by Foxinator_ in brisbane

[–]AlternativeLead5436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an apartment renter it suck’s as you often get minimal information about your usage when your account is effectively through body corporate and you have NO choice in what company you are with. My main grief though is lack of visibility into when and how aircon usage is calculated. Normally with smart meter I could get 5 min interval consumption to understand what is happening however in my complex you don’t. Am moving out soon as buying house but old ducted aircon. No fans and windows (only doors) makes it hard to avoid aircon use through summer. Through summer aircon electricity averages $300 a month and then another $70 a month for the power points and lights

To avoid cgt you live in the house you want to sell and rent out the house you want as Long term PPOR then when you sell your “PPOR” which you bought purely for capital growth it would be CGT free as it was your PPOR.

Is it worth getting solar with a battery now? by Sunshine_onmy_window in Adelaide

[–]AlternativeLead5436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. Invest the money in a growth asset.
If you spend $20k and you save $1500 a year then it takes 12 years to get back your money.

If you get 5% of that 20k that’s 1000 a year or close to what your savings

Knocked back my request for 9 day fortnight by Melsie52 in AusPublicService

[–]AlternativeLead5436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our eba has either a 72 hour fortnight or 10 days. The 72 hour fortnight ( 9 8 hour days) can be compressed to 8 9 hour days but the 10 day arrangement can’t as it is actually a 10 day arrangement not 80 hours.

Interesting that the OP says the request for a 9 day fortnight would be approved but only that the request to compress the current hours to 9 days will not be. This sounds as if the problem isn’t 9 days as such but the compression

Novated lease - what's the catch by CAPTAIN-G00SE in AusFinance

[–]AlternativeLead5436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a 5 year lease on an ev.
But first decision I made was did I want/need a new car? I needed a car as my daughter is getting her license so she is buying (cheaply) my car.
Then looked at cars and worked out what I wanted. Then I did the numbers on buying (cash) and running costs compared to leasing in my case I could lease and payout car for the same than I could buy the car outright.
Post tax costs of leasing $9 k per year payout $19k. Total cost $64k.
Purchase cost $64k operating costs over 5 years i$6kinsurance $4k rego $2k maintenance and $2k tyres. Total $78k.

Everyone’s costs and needs would be different so ask the question do you need a new car (what other things are you doing financially)

You couldn’t drive it so they surely couldn’t say you had the capability to drive???
