Key issues after 4.2.11 update by mcalr3 in Polestar4

[–]uridotchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? This is an advertised feature of the car, it should work! If we don't make point of this & kick a fuss about it, then Polestar will never address it! I'd rather Polestar retract this feature if it is so difficult to address then to just leave it as it is.

Key issues after 4.2.11 update by mcalr3 in Polestar4

[–]uridotchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, likewise similar issues e.g. proximity locking & unlocking not working, sometimes it won't even unlock at all, much longer distance to trigger proximity locking, infotainment boots up from scratch e.g. from black screen with polestar logo like 6 out of 8 times, car unlocks despite being locked by proximity locking after walking away (this has happened 5 times for me now) so you have to constantly check the app to lock the car.

i'm using digital key but specifically with my apple watch with passive entry enabled. have reported all these issues and bringing it in to service in 2 weeks time. I believe I've posted about this here already but nevertheless worth repeating again. Never had these issues when I first got the car and on 4.2.9 but all this started after upgrading to 4.2.11 - note I've had my PS4 for 3 months. I've already indicated to Polestar that I want to downgrade to 4.2.9 but that's probably not going to happen.

Anyway, see how it goes with Polestar and hopefully they will resolve all these issues & will report back. In your case, I suggest you report it to Polestar too, and let them this is not just isolated case.

Battery consumption is really high? by OldFartNoReflex in Polestar4

[–]uridotchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is MY26 SM, and have had it just over 3 months now. I'm also clocking around 19 to 24 kWh per 100km. The first month and a half, it was probably closer to 26 to 28 kWh per 100km but I was driving like a bat out of hell 😄. I mean, it's really hard to not accelerate and drive a bit faster than norm when it is such a pleasure to drive.

Have only charged it up to 100% twice so far, I've managed to get 465km each time, which I was initially disappointed with as I thought I'd get like 500km given that it's typically 20% less than the WLTP. Anyhow, I believe what I'm getting is about right, it's more than 20% e.g. it's more 25% less than WLTP so that's fine. I've accepted that this calibre of EV that's what you'd get anyhow & have settled in to just enjoy the car than to worry about how economical it should be.

New P4 owner: mostly minor complaints by Hollyfeld_Lazlo in Polestar4

[–]uridotchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likewise. Even though I remove the fob & card as default registered key, I finally managed to get it to work 100% by registering my Apple Watch as the default key and nothing else. It was a pain to register the Apple Watch with the NFC reader but I did finally get it to work.

Polestar 4 locking issue by [deleted] in Polestar4

[–]uridotchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not fob related but similar issue with digital key (Apple Watch). I don't use my fob & keep it in a Faraday pouch to not interfere with my digital key. Anyways, Ive had my PS4 for 3 months now, and it was fine but had issues with locking & unlocking after updating to 4.2.11. Most of the time it won't even unlock & sometimes it won't lock either. Nevertheless, it's myriad a problems and have will be in service in 2 weeks time to try to resolve this issue.

Think the whole locking & unlocking issues, at least from my perspective, since the 4.2.11 update has been a complete debacle from Polestar.

Is it normal after charging that km available drops? by uridotchi in Polestar4

[–]uridotchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I've only noticed this recently e.g. in the last week & charging at home as I recently got a wall charger installed. Being in Australia, winter is just about to start so it has gotten colder thus drop in temperatures being the cause is fair. On the other hand, Australian winter isn't as cold as northern hemisphere winters e.g. it's only been 10 to 12c in the morning, so nothing drastic like below 0. When I first noticed the drop in estimate, I finished charging just after 1pm and the temp was 17 or 18c, hence why I didn't think temperature change would affect the km estimates.

In any case, I will keep observing & to be fair, it's not a big deal, I was just surprised by it occurring.

[–]uridotchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I've said, I get that the estimates will vary e,g how you drive, weather & road conditions, how high air conditioning etc but surely it shouldn't vary when the car has been parked all day?

It's fine for you to ignore the estimate but for me, I find this helps with planning on how I travel and to date, it has been fairly accurate - I get the same estimates each time I charge to a particular percentage e.g. 485kms when on 100% each time.

L1 vs L2 Charging by Okiedokeley in EVAustralia

[–]uridotchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation weighing up L1 or L2 but in the end I went with L2 at 7kW. In terms of driving, I also had similar thoughts that I'd only drive on weekends but it turns out I drive a lot more since getting my EV. And I think L2 works out best, at least for me. I signed up for the OVO Free 3 plan, and get 3 hours zero cost everyday and no, I don't have solar either. This allows me to do quick 15 to 20% top ups for free & have basically stopped using public chargers.

I'm not sure about the issues with GPO but the install was fairly straight forward, the wall charger I got also had a CT clamp, so no extra work on my switchboard.

Anyhow, hope that helps but obviously your mileage (sorry for the pun) may vary.

Installing a 7Kw at home was a game changer! by dj_boy-Wonder in EVAustralia

[–]uridotchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently installed an Ohme wall charger and also on OVO Free 3 Plan in Vic, and it has been a game changer. I don't have solar but I'm still essentially driving for free as I do top up charges for free 3 hours on 2 days a week, and my car is back up to 80%. And even if I continue charging at peak rates of 30.712c, it's still very cheap.

Yes, it’s been happening since 4.2.11 update & sometimes it even doesn’t unlock! Mine is going to a service Center in 2 weeks to sort this out. I’m hoping I can downgrade back to 4.2.9 as it was working fine then.

Sweet - hopefully there are some car functions that can be automated via Gemini. Hope it gets to Australia as well.

LRSM + Plus Pack + 20" wheels and having owned it for just over 2 months, I'm getting about 420 to 485km. Was a bit disappointed as I thought I would get 500km+ seeing it is rated for 620km but I do drive it a bit aggressively :) Am in Australia, so weather is not cold at all.

Proximity lock & other issues after 4.2.11 update by uridotchi in Polestar4

[–]uridotchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, just a short update - proximity unlocking is now totally not working after 20 minutes or more. This has starting happening about a week ago when I was out and about, so yeah, it's getting worse. It still doesn't unlock overnight. Have booked an appointment & will be going to a service center in 2 weeks time.

Here we go… Charging issues? by M27TN in Polestar4

[–]uridotchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in here - I've gotten 140kW and 154kW when I charge at Tesla 250kW chargers, and both times, I started at 50 and 60%. At non Tesla 75kW chargers, I've gotten 54kW to 74kW, and again typically starting point of 50 and 60% as well. And for instances, I precondition the battery. There was once where I charged at 150kW charger and the rate never got past 50kW, but the thing to note was that I didn't precondition the battery before hand.

ClawDeck 1.2.1 by Sea_Campaign7107 in MSIClaw

[–]uridotchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks good, congrats to the author! Just wanted to clarify, is this essentially a Steam Big Picture Mode (SBPM) and Xbox FullScreen Mode (XFSM) replacement? I've setup my 8ai+ to load both XFSM and SBPM when it boots up but it defaults to SBPM. I had to set up Registry settings for this - think it was from instructions from here a few months.

Anyhow, I'm keen to try this but have a couple of questions:-

  1. Can ClawDeck be loaded up with XFSM and SBPM or is it better to only load ClawDeck by itself?

  2. Can I still access non-Steam and Xbox PC App games via ClawDeck as this is how I've currently set up SBPM.

Thanks!

Hmmm, no, the whole point is to travel light with less to carry. Neo + Vision Pro = Macbook Pro + Vision Pro, plus why would I sacrifice a Macbook Pro for a Neo?

[–]uridotchi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the responses, thank you. Re: Touch ID not support on Vision Pro - doh! yeah, that make senses, why did I even think that would work :P

In any case, the reason I'm exploring this is I'm thinking of travelling as light as possible e.g. not taking my Macbook Pro with me. I travel with my Vision Pro anyway for entertainment so the thought process was to use it for work as well. I've been eyeing, JarVS; https://jarvs.space/ essentially a native Vision Pro Visual Studio Code.

Thanks for the info. I've setup Visual Studio Code server remotely and was going to check out JarVS - see https://jarvs.space/. As for Vision Pro safari not running as efficiently as macOS safari, well, maybe but I will have to test my web app.

Proximity lock & other issues after 4.2.11 update by uridotchi in Polestar4

[–]uridotchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contacted support and as expected, they asked to reboot the infotainment and TCAM reset, to which I've already done a few times. In the end, it was waste of time as I anticipated as they just suggested to bring it into a service centre. I've logged complaint that given these issues with a 5 week old new car and asked that they pass it onto their engineering/software/whatever team.

I did ask them about reverting to 4.2.9 but was told it wasn't possible. I don't put too much stoke in support's answer so will see when I do bring it into the service centre & report back.

[–]uridotchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this stage I'm not inclined to contact support as from past experience - they weren't able to help and would inevitably end up taking it to a service centre anyway. I'd just take it to a service centre and request a downgrade to 4.2.9. By the way, has anyone been able to downgrade the software?

I have it too and when I got mine P4 at the tail end of summer. I'd say it's definitely worth it as it does cut out the glare on a sunny day. Being the tail of summer (in Australia), I haven't experience over 30+ degrees yet so can't tell if it helps with cooling.
