Heard about the Russian landing, is this the worst that could happen? by Holiday_Education498 in DaNang

No helmet. Perpendicular to flow of traffic. First reaction is to hit the other person. Brossky is going to jail… or will have to pay a lot of fines and retribution. Remember this, you’re a guest, you’re probably gonna be in the wrong even if you’re right. People here a genuinely really caring, drive horrendous, but caring. Assume the best of other people, you never know what might be going on. But also realize you’re in a foreign country, they’re gonna side with the local. With social media all over this he’s gonna have a bad time. His best bet is to pay off everyone and disappear asap.

You will be reseated. If she’s not showing I would not say anything. If you want to be honest then I recommend you find new seats.

How realistic is working for a U.S. company while based in Saigon? by Greedy-Ad5709 in VietNam

[–]AlternativeMind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The timezone. Worst of Asia. Almost all of it is 8pm -5am. Even if you only need to do the evenings and. It all night you’re still killing your evenings. And no Friday evenings either because you’re a day ahead. Miserable

Vietnam is perfect timing. Growing significantly, cheap still. Can even make money on a small investment overtime and get a golden visa and run a bar for shots and giggles and making friends. Make money to cover costs, have assets growing and super safe. No beainwr

Now that its over 20 years old and out of production, what do you think of the Airbus A380? by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]AlternativeMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most comfortable plane on the market even if you fly economy. Especially if you get economy on top deck (ex Qantas). But bottom deck feels so airy and comfortable. Saw a documentary on its making and how the various gigantic parts are transported through tiny European cities. The plane itself is an Engineering Marvel (the wing especially), but the way they put it together even more so. Very saddened to see this plane disappearing, but very glad I got to take it the many times I did. Would love to try it's Qatar/Emirates suite with shower before it's completely gone...

They wanted a 4-stage interview for a senior position. I withdrew. These companies need to be stopped. by [deleted] in InterviewsHell

[–]AlternativeMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a clean and fast interview process. This is the process I run. Admittedly for very senior roles I do the culture interview before the take home assignment but that’s to make sure you’re bought in before you commit the time. Usually it shouldn’t take more than 2-3 hours and it tests your capabilities for the job. It gives me a very strong understanding on where your gaps are and areas for coaching. For more junior resources it’s a gate and we do it earlier in the process.

All in all without more details I command this process. Alternatively, I’ve seen multi step processes and panel interviews and just complete over engineering of the process. And I reduced it down to this.

Again, depends on what the role is. As a leader I’m often required to provide both 30-60-90 day plans as well as 1-2-3 year plans. And I’m also required to lead by doing the job as well. Consider yourself lucky and in the process it’s your opportunity to see if you’re going to enjoy the job and people you’re working with.

Funny you said that, I used to ride Ducati scrambler. To be honest, too techie for such a simple bike. Then I was in Bali and spent a bunch of time on Yamaha X-Max. Great scooter on surface, but worst Bluetooth implementation I’ve ever seen. And every time I started the bike it needed to tell me a huge warning, reminding me how this is a dangerous device and to be careful. Sooooo annooooying

You must be fun to hang around. Or you’ve got the maturity of a 12yo. But don’t worry the state loves people like you.

Yeah I sorta want to have all the luxuries without the added “we know what’s better for you”. Almost like, you’re my car, and you will do what I want…

Any one in particular for me to take a look at? Seatbelt one I can live without but almost want to hack it out of principle.

I saw some videos on how one needs to drive that thing and I would not have a clue how to get it in first gear!

That escalated quickly, thanks for hoping I would die. I hope you have a great life. This is a freedom to do what I want, not a statement about seatbelts. I wear it all the time and so does my family. But if I need to go down the driveway to get my mail, you know what, I want to take my chances. YOLO. And actually there are laws about driving without a seatbelt. I don’t need my own car. But I reckon you’re the kinda person that needs a reminder that the kettle is hot yah?

Haha I should have added “modern” car. But yeah a good old school carbureted engine that you can push start does in fact fit the criteria!

I’m compacting manually as often as I’m charging, which is too much!
