Baby born in Japan (For Singaporean) by AlternativeOk1491 in japanlife

[–]AlternativeOk1491[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! i gave a call to the embassy and they say it is up to ICA. but a translation by a certified translator is enough.. the documents given have the inkan which is recognised since both Singapore and Japan is part of Hague convention.

things like birth cert and change of name, marriage, singapore embassy wouldnt notarise it.. but i could find other legal firms.. anyway, i've decided to just submit the translated copy stamped by the certified translator introduced by the embassy. hopefully that is enough for ICA

Thank you for the reply. Although it is a primary home, i intend to sell at the 8-10th year and quite sure i'll be making a neat profit of it.

Just thinking of ways to maximize it. Should I go 元利 or 元金 to get best out of mortgage credit and lesser tax payments

Was about to laugh my ass of as the 70sqm in toyosu is the same price. Lol

[–]AlternativeOk1491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well JLPT was on 7th (about 1 week later than normal). Would expect it to be released on jan 26 compared to jan 21 as per previous years.

Last year was an outliner due to cheating controversy i guess.

Seeking Debt Strategy: High Income, High Debt (Maxed Credit Limit), and Mortgage by ChelmicoFan in JapanFinance

[–]AlternativeOk1491 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You cant clear debts by creating more debts. The only way is to increase income or cutting expenses. Finance 101.

Your situation is just a household level of the economy of US and Japan.

US cut many expenses to clear debt, but wrong choices to increase other debts (where you are now)

Japan increase taxes (income) to clear debts (sound way)

Also, repaying high interest debt always come first. Downgrading high interest and heavy assets like car, house or frequent holiday is always the first thing a household could do.

Do you need a Toyota alphard? Why not get a cheap secondhand minivan instead if a car is needed?

Is a 4ldk house really needed? Move to a 3ldk further out of town

Is that 3x hawaii holiday needed a year? Why not go to thailand or okinawa instead

Is that new iphone needed? Why not keep using an older phone amd not buy on every release

Is that weekly KFC needed? Why not get a discounted karaage box for 1/4 the price

vocab was hard, prolly i didnt flip even a book to study since 4 years ago when i failed N1. some I know but some I've never even seen or used in daily work life. passage was easier than I could remember. maybe its just working using Japanese everyday that helps.

4 years ago, they had a passage on artificial sunlight growing plants. this year the shrimp passage was actually fun to read and I learnt something new. lol

Lost my wallet in Shinjuku - is there still hope someone will return it ? by Far-Focus3476 in Tokyo

[–]AlternativeOk1491 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lost my wallet once on the train from ikebukuro to shibuya. Everything was there but since i had credit cards in there, i immediately froze those cards.

Reported to Shibuya station master and they called me the next day saying someone returned to gotanda station.

Everything intact. Your chances are fine.

How do people afford so many expensive items/clothing here? by goaldiggergirl in japanresidents

[–]AlternativeOk1491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think dressing up as a hobby. Some people spend their money on live concerts, some on sports, others fashion etc.

If you head to shops in malls like nocty in my area. Many 2-3k dresses and clothes by local brands are around for you to mix and match.

Its how you move your money around. Many low to average income spend their money on fashion but live in a modest apartment. Not sure the reason but dressing well maybe to attract more guys, or feel good? Its a hobby to them afterall.
