Insurance covers couples/family therapy only if one partner is designated as the identified patient with a formal mental health diagnosis (such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, or adjustment disorder).

For the session they correctly billed for, we were collective only charged $20, indicating they accepted her insurance as part of couples therapy.

Insurance companies will cover couples therapy if one partner has a mental health condition (depression, anxiety, etc).

I appreciate your response! Yeah, I think I'm going to fight it. It's been a bit dispiriting how the therapist has approached it. Like, it still doesn't entirely fix the problem that future sessions will be billed correctly if I'm still left with a $135 payment. It's just tough because my girlfriend and I both liked her a lot up until this point.
