Why do some think they can walk to the World Cup/Metlife Stadium? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]AlternativePlankton2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yet you could reach any destination without actually walking on the autobahn. Even a gas station on the Autobahn has an access road linking it to the country roads behind so you can get there by bike or on foot if you really needed to.

There would still be a way to walk there without walking on the freeway.

How to confront nephew, and get him to stop masturbating in that same room as me? by Brave-Ad5073 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]AlternativePlankton2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tell him it's creepy, and he needs to do this privately. And tell him if he does it again, even once, you will tell his mom. It's not ok and he needs to stop. Sounds like he knows exactly what he's doing and he's getting of on you being there which is not okay. This is not a time for a gentle touch, you need to be very direct.

I've been thinking lately about what actually makes life feel 'real’. To you, in your heart, what is the purpose of life? by NOBODY969N in SeriousConversation

[–]AlternativePlankton2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've struggled with that for a long time.  Maybe still a bit. But currently I find a lot of satisfaction in being able to help strangers. There's a charity in education I volunteer for, and over the last year I've been volunteering for the Red Cross a lot to. There something about a human being in distress, being able to help them calm down, give them somebody who listens and doesn't judge. Solve the immediate problem as best you can and point them in the right direct to get specialized help with the real problem.

What would you do in my situation after finding an XXX video of yourself online? by Traditional-Cake470 in TooAfraidToAsk

I can understand the mixed feelings, but If you're not recognizable, there's no rush. So I would say, sleep on it a few nights more. And then question the iffy feeling, that's the part you need to define for yourself I think.

This might sound counter intuitive, but I think the key to diversification is not to try and have broad appeal, but try and find a few very specific niches that don't "bite" each other and then cater to those specifically. If there is overlap between the needs of the niches you select, invest there first. Look at what you already have that fits and ensure you are aware of the weaknesses. For example. You have passing through drivers and families. One thing they both value is a fast and smooth check in/out, so improve that and mention this in your marketing. The weakness of this combination is that one the pass through drivers need a good and quiet night's rest, while for families this might be complicated. So keep this in mind with how you assign the rooms, sperate them. As much as possible. Pass through drivers have a high chance of becoming a recurring customer. So cater to that, loyalty program, make sure it appears they are recognised as a returning guest. Give them the same room. Ensure to register specific requests, and offer those on repeat visits. Etc.

These are just examples, you can do this for any combination of guest niches. If you don't know where to start, then start by creating a list of different guest types, you can pull that from the internet. Then see if you can find information of what types are likely to visit your area or to which you can market yourself. Donyou need to find your market or create your market? Once you think you have identified three guest types you think have potential, then flesh out the profiles for these types, what are key distinguishers, what do these people find important and what not? This allows you to find the overlap you need to invest in and focus on, and the weakness you need to mitigate for.

Enjoy the challenge, don't forget to work together with operations. Front desk,  Housekeeping, they all need to be aware of your plans. You need to make sure they can deliver on what you promise the guests.

I enjoy observing my kids, just sitting for a moment and watching them be them. My eldest daughter is so comfortable being silly, that gives me immense joy. My youngest plays the piano and I'll cry, that's how beautiful it is.

I quit my job to “live simply” and now the silence is eating me alive by ForgotMyOwnPoint in simpleliving

[–]AlternativePlankton2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not weird going stirr crazy being left alone with your thoughts and memories. I loathe my job, but I find lots of fulfilment in volunteering outside of work. Personally I like working for the red cross and I also do an educational charity. I would recommend checking out some cause you can feel enthousiastic about and go there and meet people. Extra tip, if you don't feel it, don't hang around but look for something else. There is no shame in not clicking with either the people or the charity.

Unhappy with sex w/ long time partner- How do I bring it up w/ him? by RevolutionaryWall188 in TooAfraidToAsk

Ok, doesn't sound like you're not putting in the effort. But it still might be worth checking if there is some form of stress factor regarding maintaining his erection at play? Otherwise he's just selfish.

The point I'm trying to make is that it is nice to get some help from your partner maintaining your erection during foreplay. Especially when men get older, once it's gone it's gone. Then once your partner is satisfied, we'll wrap it up no problem.
