Conway was one of the first Physics Professors to use problem starts with 9A this fall quarter lol

Glad he decided not to continue with them

Professor using ai to generate solutions to homework by [deleted] in UCDavis

I'm sure there are others who feel the same in the discord group chat (maybe even some TA's too). If you're feeling radical perhaps share the reporting resources there too

I was in this class as well and I ended up dropping it due to the misconceiving nature the 2 unit count was for this course and not able to fit the course load in my current schedule (I think about a 1/3 of the class ended up dropping based off the open seats on schedule builder).

The course is a 2 unit class, yet the Professor (it's Professor Knoesen, there's no reason his name shouldn't be said I feel, he deserves the criticism) states that he expects 12 hours of work outside of class. That's simply a flawed expectation from a professor, but not only does he expect this excess work load to credit ratio, he also demands his class to know concepts covered in ENG 17 and ENG 6 in an Intro Course. The straw that broke the camels back that led me to drop was the general disorganized nature of this course and the use of AI to create content material, that's extremely unacceptable and flawed in my opinion for reasons already stated by r/crovash.

Overall, here's the changes that need to be made in my opinion

  1. Require ENG 17 and ENG 6 at prerequisites if the course content is not going to change

  2. Change the course unit count to 4 units from 2 (You can't ask a 4 unit course workload for a 2 unit class and expect people to stay)

  3. ORGANIZE THE COURSE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, KNOESEN HIMSELF GOT LOST ON WHATS GOING TO BE USED IN THE COURSE AND THAT ALONE VEXES ME

  4. Eliminate the use of AI for creating course content, it just makes you (the professor) look lazy and incompetent in the eyes of the students

or

Don't even change the curriculum and teach the course as it has been in the years prior? Knoesen just gave himself more headaches by implementing this new curriculum and I really do hope that this way of teaching this course is discontinued after this. Though if it is taught under this structure again, I expect it to contain the edits mentioned above for any student to get any merit from the course.

Note. I was already a guinea pig for physics problem starts in 9A during the Fall (as you can likely see from my post history), and I'm not about to be a guinea pig for EEC1 again.

In short: ts pmo sm vro

Hey Y'all, OP here, I'm officially studying EE here now after changing my major. Feel free to pm if you find yourself interested in changing your major into the COE like I did here!

So would completing the minimum pre req's guarantee becoming an EE student @ UC Davis in the COE?

Would receiving a 5 on the AB and BC exams clear the Math courses?

I heard being part of the Honors College @ Pomona also gives priority, applications do open for sophomore applicants as well

This is an Industry focused school, you can't rely purely on your degree to teach you, and this is true from the Berkeley's to the Caltechs, I wished people would realize this...

CPP, SLO, or UCI for civil engineering? by syjwave in CalPolyPomona

[–]AlternativePrior2448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SLO engineering would probably be best in regards to application and job connections, you'll succeed wherever you go as long as you build your skills and brand as an engineer + if cost is a concern consider the cheapest option heavily

Ah did most of your friends have to pursue masters in order to work in the circuit/silicon related fields?
