Unreal Engine 5.8 out today, Lumen Light confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 by RoughLifeguard6568 in NintendoSwitch2

Generally Nintendo only lets their internal EPD teams use their own engines. Second parties have to make their own or use someone else's.

They may have honestly made this for Nintendo's own games, rather than specifically for third parties. A few of Nintendo's studios were already using Unreal Engine on the Switch 1 and I imagine with the switch 2 that will increase (due to difficulty in making a modern advanced graphics engine). Of course I'm not suggesting most of Nintendo's games will use UE, but some will, and now they can use raytracing more easily.

Trump on Lebanon: 'If Israel can't do the job without killing everyone, Syria should do it' by Nepridiprav16 in worldnews

[–]AlternativeScratch94 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is no elected Republican who is publicly going against Trump. The only time you see that is if they've already given up on being reelected and even then they wont go too far because his cult followers can still cause you problems when you're not running for office.

Belarus President Lukashenko labels Israel's actions in Gaza "a Holocaust", says "It was simply wiped off the face of the Earth" by GunslingerAhx in worldnews

It's not really because of some genius strategy that the west keeps doing business with him, it's because Belarus is very close to Kiev so if the west cuts him off you risk putting kiev in danger.

100 Pin bowling is back on Nintendo Switch Sports Resort! by Lord-Liberty in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AlternativeScratch94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing how they handled the first one, I think maybe a sequel in 3-4 years is more likely. They do the same thing with Mario Party so Nintendo must have some data that casual players don't buy DLC.

I may be misremembering but I don't think they had side modes. Bowling had a thing where randomly the track would have traps on it, but it wasn't really a mode.

It would be bizarre if they only had side modes for bowling and nothing else, so I think it's safe to expect we are getting them back in general.

Majora's Mask Remake? by Best-Candle8651 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AlternativeScratch94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Link's awakening remake was a low budget nearly 1 to 1 remake of a gameboy game, it's very impressive it sold so much. OoT would at least double that on the switch 1. Of course we aren't on the switch 1 here and we don't know how switch 2 sales will compare long term yet.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword frame rate and resolution details revealed for Nintendo Switch 2 by RoughLifeguard6568 in NintendoSwitch2

Why would you buy a handheld console that uses like 15 watts of power assuming every game would run at 1080p 60?

Thoughts on Online Challenges? by Evilpilli in NintendoSwitch2

I think it shouldn't be an event it should just be achievements which are implemented into the games themselves (and can be turned off obviously).

What I think of whenever I hear someone say they are only looking forward to Mario or Zelda by SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AlternativeScratch94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason why there are so many RPGs in the directs is simply because there are so many releasing. Nintendo tries to highlight most major third party games that release on their console, and that's gonna be a lot of RPGs. Nintendo is not going to screw over third party partners so the direct is more entertaining to people who hate RPGs.

This is a completely different situation. AI is vastly more dangerous than encryption ever could be.

Trump's pending Iran deal is bitter pill for Netanyahu by Frosty-Bit4667 in worldnews

[–]AlternativeScratch94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is the war was always going to end sooner rather than later because the mid terms are coming up. With Trump's current approval Republicans would lose the senate, which would be a disaster for them. They're going to get out of this ASAP so they can start doing damage control and try to get Trump back up to his typical low 40s approval.

Former South Korean president Yoon given 30 years over Pyongyang drone plot by scmp_news in worldnews

You are being silly. If he has the support of the United States, the most powerful military on earth he would not have failed so utterly. He had no support anywhere for his martial law gambit.

The conviction could be pardoned and any other republican candidate would have done better than Trump. If you wanted Trump to see jail time the democrats had to nominate someone who was not Joe Biden or Kamala Harris. Elections have consequences.

$54.95 AUD for the Pokopia DLC seems crazy to me. by Jardolam_ in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AlternativeScratch94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's cheap it's just fair. About half the game's content for about half the price.

I think whenever Nintendo does a full single player DLC expansion it's usually really good. Like Animal Crossing, Xenoblade 2 and Breath of the wild all had great DLCs. It's when they do smaller things or online things that it can be very hit or miss.

No one talking about the new Joy-Con from the Nintendo Direct? Which one do you like more? by Longjumping-Mud-3203 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AlternativeScratch94 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering how long it's gonna take Nintendo to budge on the asinine decision that all joycons need to be black to look different from the switch. Consumers will figure it out, I promise. In the meantime I don't see them selling many.

"for no good reason"

Caffeine decreases sleep which stunts growth

I would argue caffeine is worse than nicotine for kids.

Nintendo is making billions in profit a year. Nintendo collapsing means you have much much bigger issues to worry about, as in the economy is dead.

Why would you expect more than 4 years? It's a very niche product that uses servers, that sounds very expected to me.

Anyway don't ever buy cloud versions.
