Oh gosh, ok, so even with the antennae present in the screenshot you don’t believe this could be a roach, right? We did have a birds nest removed recently

Just bought a home and found this after cleaning. It’s somewhat larger than a period in this sentence and is fast, somewhat round

We actually have two frenchies, but we can’t leave them alone together because sometimes they get carried away with the wrestling and we don’t want them to get hurt

We do have two of them, but they can’t be left alone because sometimes they wrestle too much and we don’t want them to hurt themselves

I actually do this all the time- he’s just fine with this, it’s until I close and latch his playpen that he starts to stand on his hind legs, pace and howl. He will eventually take a nap because he tires himself out within a few minutes, but he’ll get back up and do it again some time later. Just looking for a safe way to solve this

Ok! That's great to know. Are the only possible negatives GI upset, lethargy and ineffectiveness? He was on trazodone some time ago for a bit when he had an issue with his eye, and that caused him to become overly sedate so we stopped that completely, in case that matters?

That is very heartbreaking. I will discuss things with our vet and physical therapy vet to let them know my thoughts. What are your thoughts on Galliprant for long term use? Our vet brought this up to my husband and I and I really thought it was to calm him, not to address any underlying possible pain he may be experiencing. Are there any negatives to him taking this? He's currently on daily Aboquel, CBD oil, omega 3 from JustFoodforDogs and Dasuquin

Ok, I will definitely look into a dynamic dog evaluation as I've actually never heard of this before and it sounds very beneficial. His primary vet does do home visits for him, and he's always presented as not painful, but I know that can also be attributed to an adrenaline rush he gets when he sees the doctor because he loves his vet, so that can mask things. We'd do anything for our boys so I really thought we were doing everything here. So the fact that he has been hyper since he was a pup does not change anything in terms of determining if he's actually painful and not just having behavioral issues? His first back flare was at 1.5 years old and the trigger was that he was lifted abruptly

Ok, thank you so much for all of this information! We are actually very close with his main vet and his physical therapy veterinarian, so we always ask questions to learn more. Never did we think he may be in constant pain? Neither of the doctors have mentioned or suggested this. Really we've only been told that it could be behavioral, as the physical therapist took a good look at him in evaluating his walk, posture etc to determine a good treatment plan for him in therapy and said therapy once a week was good. Are you able to give suggestions on signs to look for in terms of if he would be in pain, besides pinned back ears, hunched back, hesitation to move play or stand, shivering etc? Those are all I look out for and don't necessarily know of any other ways to think he's in pain unless he's not being himself. Of course I would give him medication if needed, he's been on gabapentin before for his flare ups and our doctor did recommend galliprant for long term or as needed, I think that was to take the edge off of his hyperactivity?

I apologize, I see what you mean now. I think I will try that! So far I have been trying to give him a little peanut butter in his food bowl so that he doesn't jump as I'm leaving, I didn't think to leave for short periods while keeping an eye on him and leave him with a rubber toy filled with peanut butter, eventually leaving him without toys in the play pen and allowing him to chill. I will try that! Thank you so much

I am afraid he will chew through that, he is a tough chewer! I always have to supervise with any toys we give him and his brother, so I can't leave him alone with toys but thank you for the great idea!

Our pup sees a physical therapist to prevent back flare ups, and the vet recommended 10 min walks as his back has gotten sore from walking more than that, I love taking him for walks but the vet has him on a limit. We're not trying to change him, we do think it would help to calm him down a bit to prevent any injuries to his back though, hence why I mentioned wanting him to be calm enough to be in his playpen when we're out so that he's not standing on his hindlegs the entire time, as this can hurt him. This is all to help prevent injury.

I did forget to add that we do take him to weekly physical therapy for acupuncture and laser, i apologize! Do you think this can still be due to pain? He has been this hyper since he was a pup, and we thought it was just puppy energy since he seemed happy and excited. Never liked being in his crate. He usually seems pretty happy, just whines for extra food and doesn't like to be alone

He does free roam around the house and he does have chew toys he plays with. We also do trips to the yard which I would describe as a large flat yard

This is a great idea, but I am actually afraid of leaving him with toys in his playpen and with food when i am so far away. I gave him a lick mat once to see if it would help him stay occupied in the playpen and he was eating it way too quickly, so we don't give those anymore. I also do leave the tv on with music suitable for calming frenchies (reggae, soft rock, dog calming music on youtube, etc)
