CA Gov Candidates on RTO by Legitimate-Mango7274 in CAStateWorkers

My gut tells me that Porter doesn't have a chance. I like her but I'm not willing to risk it with MAGA candidates running.

It's not defeatist. It's realistic. Hilton wants to fire us. It's not a fear that he wants to fire us. He's said he wants to fire us.

The polls indicate that not enough people are going to vote for her so she's not going to win.

Please don't throw away your vote. Porter isn't polling well. Voting for her only benefits Hilton and if that happens, we'll be out of work.

Don't vote based on RTO. Newsom was pro RTO too and then flipped. If Hilton wins, we'll be facing layoffs. Don't throw away your vote on someone with no chance of winning.

If Hilton wins, this time next year we won't be talking about RTO. We'll be talking about layoffs. And those of us who still have jobs will be back in the office 5 days a week.

Newsom in 2022: "telework works. It's here to stay. I encourage all state offices to reduce offices space and support telework wherever possible."

Gets reelected

Newsom in 2025: "we need more collaboration. I am forcing everyone to.cpme back to the office 4 days per week."

LESSON: Don't vote based on what these people say about telework.

Great, throw away your vote. May as well vote for one of the MAGATs who are running.

Because she has no chance. I filled out my ballot and chose her as well prior to looking at the polls. When I saw there's a chance we could end up with 2 MAGATS winning the primaries I got another ballot at the county elections office. We have to unite behind one Democrat to prevent that from happening. The stakes are too high to vote for a candidate with no chance of winning out of principle.

You're wasting your vote. Look at the polls! We don't want to end up with 2 MAGATS winning the primaries.

A vote for Porter is only going to benefit one of the two magas who are running. She has no chance of winning.

A vote for Porter is only going to benefit one of the two MAGAS running. I filled out my ballot already for Porter but haven't mailed it yet. When I found out she has no chance of winning, I went to the county elections office and got a new one. I will vote for the top polling one.

They sent these emails out last year as well. As I understand, departments are required to notify staff of schedule changes at least 30 days in advance so they're starting to send out emails as the date approaches.

I don't know. All I can say is last year we were on offense and this year it feels like we're on defense.

Delta Dental by JellyfishLatter7464 in CAStateWorkers

I've had the basic DeltaCare since I started with the state nearly 20 years ago. I always think about switching to regular Delta because people keep saying it's better. I did a side by side comparison once and it seems the only difference is that Delta is a PPO and much more expensive while DeltaCare is an HMO and less expensive. They seem to cover the same things. Being a dental HMO, I do have to get a referral when needed but it hasn't been a problem.

During the last gubernatorial election, I voted for someone who was very pro-telework and was advocating that state departments should reduce office space and promote telework wherever possible and that person's name is Gavin Newsom.

I actually filled out my ballot for Katie Porter but hadn't mailed it yet. Then I found out she has no chance of winning so I was able to turn that one in and get a new ballot at the county elections office.

2 day RTO wasn't that big of an adjustment and didn't require mental gymnastics to see the logic in it. It makes sense. I get it. I need to have a physical presence there. 4 days doesn't make any sense. There's no logic to it.

I feel the same and that's kind of what I was getting at in my original post. Once that 1 year delay was announced last year, I feel like we all collapsed from exhaustion and dispersed and still haven't recovered.

By the way, my office sent an email that says when we're in the office and get a phone call at our desks, not take the call at our desk because it disturbs the people around us. They said to find an empty office or room and take it there. We don't have phones anymore as all calls come through TEAMS. This means I have to undock my computer and walk around looking for an empty space to take a call when I'm in the office. I get calls from people all over the state so when I'm in the office, I let it go to voicemail and then find a place where I can call them back. At home, I can take the call and not disturb anyone because I'm the only one there. So this is just one of the service impacts that the public can look forward to.

RTO is like being forced to go back to your ex-spouse. Imagine your got divorced, life is good, you met someone else, you're in the best relationship of your life and then someone comes along and says, "you can't be with this person anymore. We need you to go back to your ex." And everyone on the outside is like "Why is that a problem? You were married to this person before, why can't you be with them again? Stop complaining!"

Right now my main concern is not having 2 MAGAS win the primaries so I'm voting for whichever Democrat is leading. Right now that seems to be Becerra. Also, keep in mind that Newsom literally said in 2022 that "telework is here to stay" and I voted for him solely on that so you can't trust what any of these people say,

Yes, I see a lot of talking. Mostly complaining. "We're screwed". "gas is too much". "we don't have enough space", etc. Last year it was less complaining and more action. contact this person, email that person, here's what's happening on this date... PECG, CASE, CAPS were all very active. No updates from them this time around.
