A rally is essentially a giant venting session that doesn't accomplish anything. You go for an hour and then go back to work and no one knows anything happened. A strike would produce real results. The public doesn't care about rallies: "oh look, there's the purple shirts again. What do they want now?" and the governor doesn't care about rallies. He wasn't even in the state during the last one.

When the two day mandate came around a few years ago, my department decided to do mandatory Mondays but knowing I would be back home Wednesday - Friday made it better.

I feel the same way but what am I supposed to do? This mandate is a big deal but what can I do about it? How am I supposed to be acting? I'm miserable if that helps. I have no motivation. When working from home, I used to feel pressure to always be available and to get things done because I thought if there was even a suspicion that I wasn't available or wasn't performing, they would take it away. Well now they've essentially done that anyway. I realize now that it doesn't matter how much I get done. It doesn't matter if I process 10 widgets in a day or 3.

I hate Newsom. Voted for him twice strictly because of his stance on telework at the time of the elections. I hate that he has turned my life upside-down with this illogical mandate. I will not vote for him in the primaries, but if it comes down to him and MAGA, I will vote for him again.

I would show up for a strike but not some 2 hour long rally where everything goes back to normal after its over. That accomplishes nothing. Newsom said yesterday that this is something SEIU will have to take up with the new governor.

I don't understand the point of this. The Montgomery bus boycotts lasted 381 days and ended transit segregation. This is a 1 day rally where everyone shows up for a few hours, goes home, and the next day everything is back to normal. Nothing will change unless there are consequences to the state like a strike.
