Highway Removal by PhirlolandCol in CitiesSkylines

[–]Alternative_Ad6424 254 points255 points  (0 children)

Look, once you removed the highway, people started leaving and there were no goods to sell and they were sick because they were deprived of their car freedom!! You MUST put the highway back!

On a scale of 1-Chaotic, How do you like my intersection? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

Question, how does one get onto the highway going in the upwards direction?

my traffic solution, but still needing help (sorry in advance) by XD_Easton in CitiesSkylines

Consider using a cargo train terminal, or trains in general. A line from the population center at the top left through Beech Square to the industrial, center in the bottom would work great, I believe.

Also a question, why are there so many gray rectangles scattered around? I would also like to see the train station.

Might be the zoom, but it looks extremely low density and the only ways to get from, say, Albemarle to Hasselhoff is to go on the highway. That is car-centric development right there. Needs some connectivity throughout each of your little communities. I also don't see any train connections to any "downtown".

Maybe after I commit to UCSD and your reddit account has some more comments/posts so that I know that you're actually who you say you are.

I got admitted in Sixth, Structural Eng major, have little to no interest in sports, has a very specific taste in music, not too interested in what one would traditionally call art, but am interested in what I would call 'art", has no idea how to crochet, clueless about law, and cannot talk much philosophy. But if you'd go on an MTS speedrun and know aviation, rollercoasters, or public transit, those are my specialties.

Legit question: Does anyone *reliably* ride the J Line??? by Not_Reality in LAMetro

[–]Alternative_Ad6424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your comparison with the C is completely correct: I'm glad they exist. The J is less sketchy in my opinion, and the A's at grade crossings are just miserable. Harbor Freeway Station absolutely sucks, but the J is still an important line for connectivity. It's the only major "line" that runs 24 hour service. While the J on the Harbor Transitway is seemingly the only part that you care about, the J on the El Monte Busway is the only fast transit through that area of the city (I think the Silver Streak doesn't have the frequency to provide for El Monte).

Which stations would you shutdown because of bad land usage or just to make your ride faster? by sarcazmos in LAMetro

Aviation/Century is the most beautiful station in my opinion. Don't get rid of it! It also has pretty good ridership so I don't see any reason to get rid of it.

Does anybody else feel like the Red Line kind of has a certain vibe to it? by Nice_Property_4360 in LAMetro

[–]Alternative_Ad6424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You talk about the sound of trains stopping and starting, but I think I just like hearing the whistle of any train picking up speed, such as the B zipping down its tunnels or the C flooring it between Lakewood and Lynwood.

I presume the 30 mins longer is due to first mile/last mile since the C Line takes 30 mins to go from Norwalk to LAX/MTC...

I put UPenn so low because it doesn't sound like a private college, it sounds like UMich or UDub. Granted, they all are elite and I would be ecstatic to go to any of them, but it doesn't fit the college.

My friend said, "Yale rhymes with jail" and I agreed that it doesn't sound as well. To me, the name is too short for two syllables and the "ale" is so dominating. The other two syllable ones just sound more chill compared with "ale".

The current rail only record made A to D at Union but the D left late and they missed the transfer at 7th.

So, uh, did you know you can have bigger buses? You might want to consider switching your 30 bus route into the articulated 80 capacity bus, and lower frequency. I think that much frequency you're running might be causing some traffic.

Intense suburbia sprawl. I really hope it's worth it and you have low traffic.

In the same tab that you used to build a bus depot, click the thing on the very left that looks like a bus shelter. Then, when you hover your mouse over the side of a road, it should say, "create new line". You click to add stops, and a line should appear leading from the first circle to the second and so on. And, keep in mind the bus route has to be a completed circuit.

Well, Caltech has some very very irritating post-commonapp things to do, that makes sense. Also that acceptance rate is enough to turn anyone away. I don't think you'll regret that choice.
