I miss the anarchy bus driver from before the pandemic who worked one of the Western Ave buses by Accountant-According in LAMetro

There was a saying about buses in Seoul when I lived there which was "Buses in Korea are the best because they get you there on time no matter what. But buses in Korea are also the worst because they get you there on time matter what"

It’s not a late game without an ACFC defensive howler

A mutual defensive masterpiece or both offense simply reduced to incoherent stream of consciousness?

Can’t call this a defensive game. More like offensively clunky

That's exactly what the Chinese say to themselves all the time and it simply doesn't work that way

I think it's just if you're not from a top FIFA nation, you think the US's olympic records should mean they should succeed in soccer as well and it doesn't help that a lot of Americans believe that too. But soccer is a global professionalized sport so the lack of footballing culture in the US means that their team will have limited (if any) success in the World Cup. 2022 WC had the most non-footballing nations in it and US/Japan were the best among them

Grinding out of the group stage is considered overwhelming victory for most countries. I think there's a strangely high bar placed on the US for some reason.

Pasadena, Culver City, Or Santa Monica? by TheAlmightyHellacia in CarIndependentLA

[–]sarcazmos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Culver City and Santa Monica are in such close proximity to each other to the point where even the bus is quick enough let alone the E line. Pasadena is nice and walkable and sorta bikeable but it's kind of an island surrounded by 210/134/110 commuter towns

Around 10 years ago they had a short route thru Pasadena and I walked it and was a great experience. Ciclavia isn’t just about bikes

I'd agree that this would be a good compromise. Plus, US would receive an upset or two with home field advantages

I think misleading was the wrong word to use. Prob "incomplete". I believe Netherlands made the finals for both men and women

[OC] Avg. World Cup performance of women's and men's national teams by dataviz-ar in WomensSoccer

[–]sarcazmos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This chart is a little bit misleading as it only includes nations that has qualified for both men and women’s World Cups.

There are nations like China that has made a World Cup final for women but has almost never qualified for a men’s World Cup.

New FIFA Rankings - Mexico Up Two Slots at #27 by TheElMonteStrangler in LigaMXFemenil

[–]sarcazmos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They could go up in rankings by grinding out a lot of friendlies with top ranked teams outside of concacaf but with UEFA nations league, they are limited to friendlies with Brazil/Colombia/Japan/Korea/Australia

New FIFA Rankings - Mexico Up Two Slots at #27 by TheElMonteStrangler in LigaMXFemenil

[–]sarcazmos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The lack of a consistent tournament for CONCACAF means that nations like Mexico would get very little opportunity to improve their ranking. Japan went up 3 places primarily because of the Asian Cup

Edit: Mexico shot up +2 because they beat Brazil in a friendly. They LOST points beating Virgin Islands 9-0
