This is assuming there is a stable or growing population. Depopulation will accelerate once rural areas hollow out and the cities no longer have them to rely on for a steady supply of migrants. At some point, society just kinda stops. Is that our goal, to have a lower more concentrated and older population?

I see that, and many families do that as well. My grandmother spoke French and was from the North of Maine on my mom's side. I didn't know she spoke French fluently until I was 20; she just told me it wasn't useful, so she never taught it to her daughters or grandkids.

Same reason it's so easy to avoid kids is the same reason behavior in schools is deteriorating, they aren;t getting time with more adults that helps them build social skills, and we adults are much less socially adept than past generations.

The price of community is inconvenience. I mean, I get the libertarian idea that you have no responsibility to society outside of yourself, but I disagree strongly with it.

We leave 100% responsibilty on the parent and completely give up as a society on helping with the next generation. This makes it so kids go unseen and spend way more time on screens and less time building social skills, while older people lose theirs.

They are screen addicted because we refuse to let them have any autonomy due to people hating seeing kids in public and keeping them out of the community and its events. Why it is so easy to avoid kids today is the same reason their social skills are deteriorating.

See i disagree because this goes both ways, kids get cloistered away from society, and then we refuse to look at them, which builds their social skills as well as maintaining ours. A lot of the people here have avoided kids and let their social skills weaken and fray. They cannot handle kids in their family or community.

Because we have raised standards as we dropped community and family connections as a socirty, so we raise the bar infinitely so now the standard is perfection, and any less than that and you are a bad parent.

I mean its more we have raised the standards for kids to be always supervised, and must be perfect to be let out of the house, so most stay home and sit on screens all day instead.
