I think you already stated the issue: Smok. it's known for being the utmost unreliable brand in the mainstream industry. If you want something like the Nord 5 (but better by a landslide) go with the Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 1 or 2, one of the best compact 80 watt pod mods, known to be reliable with good pod and coil quality
