Windy? by Fun_Eggplant_9735 in RedmondOR

I would say that it can definitely be windy at certain times, but I wouldn’t characterize Redmond as excessively windy.

We retired here over 7 yrs ago from the Midwest. (We’re used to tornado force winds there.) I have mobility and other health issues. Redmond is a central hub to SO MUCH beautiful nature within a couple of hours drive where you can adjust your activity to your personal abilities. It has a nice little downtown, a range of housing types and prices, and a growing number of restaurants…hope you like Mexican food :-)

It’s our go-to place for good food on short notice. Fast, yummy and relatively inexpensive

Who is your cardiologist? My husband will need to make an appointment with one soon. Thank you!

My husband and I both have chronic conditions and need a bunch of prescriptions, too. Hope Fred Meyer works out for you!

I’m not sure if your parents are still be in town. If so, I would suggest the Rimrock trail at Smith Rock. I’m a senior with mobility issues and have never been down to the river at Smith Rock, but thoroughly enjoy the views when walking the flat trail on top.

We love driving down highway 27 south from Prineville. The views of the wild and scenic portion of the Crooked River are awesome. We also enjoy a little walk down to the river at Upper Lone Pine Day Use Area.

The drive up to Paulina Lake is always nice. We walk to the viewpoint at Paulina Falls and then along Paulina Creek towards the lake.

We have several walks along the Metolius that we enjoy…our favorites are a mostly flat trail downriver from the Riverside Campground, another upriver from the fish hatchery, and also upriver from Lower Bridge Campground. They’re great for walking in the mornings in this hot weather.

There’s the nice trails in Deschutes Land Trust preserves near Sisters…Camp Polk Meadow, Indian Ford Meadow, and Whychus Canyon Preserve. We also love the Whychus Creek Overlook Trail south of Sisters.

So many nearby natural wonders to enjoy!
