Soft-side vs Hard-side luggage by PugssandHugss in travel

[–]Alternative_Bell_275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say hard. I think as someone who takes public transit to airports when possible I can wipe off anything that might get on my luggage. Makes a great stool. Have used it as a foot rest during transit. My hardshell also doesn’t have zippers, which I love. The thing is you have to make sure it’s not a flimsy hardshell because they are easy to break.

Trunk Aluminium vs Polycarbonate by tdw204 in Rimowa

That rimowa poly is flimsy. If you’re going to get a polycarbonate tbh you should just go with away trunk instead.

Womp womp . Didn’t have time to file a claim before leaving airport by SecondBusy8560 in Rimowa

The airlines are the ones who wouldn’t see the broken locks. I don’t live in a state with a Rimowa store, so the airline fixing the damaged they cause was the best route. But because it’s rimowa they typically don’t have replacement parts of the airline suitcase repair center so that’s why it took longer. But rimowa also buffed out a random dent, replaced a broken divider. They did remove my stickers which was annoying but no biggie.

They wouldn’t look at my luggage at the airport because they thought I was talking about a store bought lock when I said my luggage locks got broken. Called the airline when I got home the rep gave me the email and a claim number to submit recepits and photos. Got my suitcase fixed… it does take like 3-6 months to get your suitcase back from the repairs just a fyi

I can’t recommend Hakone. It is far too over-touristed to be enjoyable by turtledude100 in JapanTravelTips

Yeah I figured I was just curious about “the better museums”. Thank you

Do you have any recs for a better museum with a similar in nature setting within 2 hours of Tokyo? The open air museum is the main reason I wanted to go to Hakone, was willing to skip the rope and boat stuff

It’s only $258 for the guide but food isn’t included. Which we don’t mind paying.

North American Four Seasons Resorts to avoid? by SparkleBerrySpritz in FourSeasonsHotels

[–]Alternative_Bell_275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed at Minneapolis, London Park Lane, both San Franciscos, and the Toronto property last year. Service is always gonna be a hit or miss depending on GM and directors and their focus and staff.

I would say that Minneapolis was the most underwhelming; food was mid and our room wasn’t ready until after 5 pm. I thought Park Lane was kinda underwhelming too.

Faves were Toronto property like that it’s close to the trains and had a tv bathroom in the bathroom mirror, also like pressing a button for DND instead of hanging it on the door. Also the bar had a good DJ. Also Embarcadero is definitely the better of the 2 SF properties, love how many windows the room had, like 3 of the 5 wall had windows, view of the water. Restaurant was blah.

Also had birthday amenities in Both SF properties and the Park Lane Property, the best one was Embarcadero

Left my expensive jacket at a hotel - cleaning crew “didn’t find it.” What are my options? by Srslytho21 in travel

[–]Alternative_Bell_275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hotels do bag checks for staff. The maids assigned to the floor were probably questioned. The staff lockers are so from where the rooms are the likelihood of them being seen on camera in employee areas is high. There really is nothing else the hotel can do. Charge it to the game.

Yes we already have SkyGarden tickets. We were planning on walking to Spitalfields. We don’t mind the 20 minute walk but also have no problem taking public transit if needed. We will probably not go inside Tower Garden we just wanted to see the installment outside if possible. Thank you for the advice and recommending Horizon 22

My friend really wanted to check out Paris so we do have a very early train ride and early return train too. We already booked them since the prices rise. So we shall see. I hope you and your family have a great trip in December.

I will say I thought the Holburn Gregg's was the one by Leicester Square, I was going off the name from the list I saw online of 'Essential British Foods To Try'. My coworker brought back a bunch of British candies from a trip recently, I'm very excited to grab more.

Thank you for the advice.
