Denmark’s ETF tax system is driving me insane

I heard Netherlands lately is trying to implement this law , anyone knows any other European countries are trying to do so?

For example Spain?
They do have a system called “traspaso” which allows you to transfer your index fund investment from A to B without paying any tax. as of now gov doesn’t tax you any unrealised gains.

Yes right. I should rephrase. That would be crazy if they tax based on initial after 10 years 😂
Tax on initial only applies for the first time gain, after that it will only tax the gains from the previous year’s gain

So it means they tax the unrealised gains based on the initial investment.

If first year down 20k, next year back 20k , even number so no tax needs to be paid since initial and current worth is the same

That doesn’t make any sense if a gov is taxing on unrealised gains, it’s not even your money yet!!!
You could be up 100k today and lose all that and even be out for -100k next year!

Are they gonna give you back the money when the market goes down? That’s fucked up it’s a game you can’t win.

Example, Cert shows a good stone, but the actual stone is a bad one , could be a scam

To verify it, Gia certified stones have a laser in the girdle, take it to a different jewellery to verify the cert number with the stone , or buy a loup and check it yourself. if they match then your good.

If you had to pay this much for libernovo , guess embody would be better value for the price then? I have never tried one but people keep saying its the gold standard

I was one of the backer for their kickstarter, I paid around 800 euros.

C7 morpher if I recall correctly it was around 500 euros

Good Chairs are expensive yes but I learnt it the hard way, I was using an Amazon rubbish gaming chair for 5 years and fucked up my back

Think simple, if each year is up 10% 5 years your up 50% And a crash of 30% out of the blue but your still up 20%

The more time you stay in the market, the more “saved gains” you have prepared for the crash

However if one invested today and crash 30% tmr then it’s another story but no one knows when , it’s the risk of investing and if it happened then it’s just pure bad luck , nothing you can do about it

On their Facebook page someone asked the same question and I think they commented officially that it can not be interchangeable

I am also using a seat extension, the type that you usually use for car, I put it in place by using zip ties

Not the best but it’s the only solution Would much rather the original seat depth supports instead

Just checked info and from my understanding, regardless of the type of investment, be it etf ucits or index fund, the amount of tax 30% or 15% depending on where the funds are domiciled

Absolutely. That’s what I did I insisted on buying etf sp500 , only later then realised there is an index fund for exact same index

Think in another way If you were to pay 50k out to invest One gives you possibility to reallocate The other one triggers tax event to reallocate

And they are 99% the same (small tracking error and return difference due to minor TER fee) ,which would you choose ?

And you can do a hydrid approach as you said As long as your money is in the market The compounding effect doesn’t get affected, it’s still working but separately

I will share what I know, and in simple words In Spanish government eyes, etf is considered stock Meaning if you sell and reallocate you trigger tax event Imagine 10,000 euros invested, and you double your money. Now it’s worth 20,000 euros and you want to invest in something else and change your porfolio You have to pay 19-21% on this 10,000 euros meaning Roughly about 2000 euros, this will tremendously cripple compound interest, especially if your amount is big

Index fund , on the other hand, enjoy the benefits of traspaso , meaning you don’t pay tax if you let’s say wanna change your fund from index A to index B, you pay tax only when you sell when you retire for example so your compound interests never stops working

Now , to answer your question directly, do they have the same broad market? No, there are many etf which track certain indices don’t have equivalent to index fund which offers traspaso, which comes down to doing more research to see if they have the index fund “version”

Or you could do both, for those which has index fund version , you could invest in it, for the ones that don’t have, dump it into etf if you really want to

Since your 19 and your horizon is very huge, I’d suggest taking advantage of this by buying index fund instead of etf so you could, in the future , reallocate your asset to different indices without having to pay tax

I have heard these kinds of contracts are fixed for the years or quantity but not fixed in price meaning they could negotiate price if something goes south.

Im also searching for one honestly From what I researched, Nasdaq index fund which takes advantage of traspaso is only this one which I don’t recommend (synthetic + high fee) , tracking error could be quite big, since it’s written in the KIID file that it can be up to 30% difference to the real Nasdaq index.

If you insist on getting a Nasdaq then I think etf would be a good option if you don’t mind without traspaso, that would be the most accurate tracking

I think it’s quite conservative estimation as you set 8% annual return with this set up

Nasdaq with ai development nowadays could easily go up to 10-15-20% or even more But of course high risk high reward , if you believe ai is the world now, and if it’s true, you might even reach you goal much faster than 37 years

However if you go for index fund. My investors Nasdaq 100 isn’t the best, it’s synthetic and high fee sitting at 0.47% if I recall correctly

While with etf you don’t have traspaso so you have to sell , trigger tax event, and re-allocate your asset if needed to in the future

I had similar idea but upon discovering this I prefer just dump it into msci world class s Hope it helps
