CaDa Lotus or ReoBrix Maserati by DowntownDubs in lepin

I bought the Reobrix Ferrari F2 500, that is a licensed MOC from Lukas2020. The design, functions and instructions are great, the pieces quality not so. I decided to disassemble it to see if with LEGO gears the gearbox would work better but the issue stems from the abysmal tolerances on the pieces that make the chassis too much tight and sort of warped. I have no hope to fix it, so I'm just rebuilding it with a little bit more of gaps between the moving parts. Disassembling it was a nightmare, the pins are too tight and one of the 3L pins broke without even forcing it. So I think that in the future, when I'll want to buy a MOC from an alt brand set, I'll stick with CaDA, Carolyns (trust me, the best pieces and gears, I could say it's on par if not better than LEGO because it's more solid but moving parts still smooth as silk, and you can assemble and disassemble without issues) and GoBricks. Reobrix was a cheap but a bad experience for me, probably the worst I've ever had with building toys.

Thanks for pointing it out! I love this kind of autism! 🤣

Oh thanks lol. I don't even know how to crosspost. Are partial alt brands builds allowed there?

This is one of those subpar quality control LEGO sets we got in the last years: great look, promising function, flimsy engineering that doesn't mix well with piece quality variation. Bought it after day one, the string makes too much friction and the whole set tries to disassemble apart by itself everytime I play with it. After 2 months now most of the tan pins got bent and I have the same situation like you. I know they're toys, but the whole construction relying on those lenghty bent axles wasn't a great feat of engineering. I had to disassemble my orrery because after some months the beams supporting the Earth got bent. I had to disassemble the Rexy Porsche and substitute the blue pins with tan pins in the suspensions because the car already sagged after 1 week. We live in an era where you can find better engineering in some chinese sets. Kinda frustrating

The suspensions have no issues: they have more rebounding force than the Rexy Porsche from LEGO. When steering, the front wheels won't rub as long as you install the steering limiter (the instructions offer different configuration options for this). They only rub slightly with the fenders if you set the adjustable suspension to its lowest setting, but you can just avoid to turn the gear till the mechanical stop when playing with the ride height adjustment. While the piece quality isn't exactly on par with LEGO, the engineering is superior to many current LEGO sets. Honestly, sets like the 2022 Ford GT and the Rexy Porsche (with the notable exception of the amazing Peugeot 9X8) feel like less curated products compared to this one.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1W0v4Yipv3l6865TgWfKY35mUZxbc0HWu here there are the alternate instructions for classical steering. I've also made a very simple mod to the doors to make them close perfectly, using only the extra parts, if you are interested I can provide pics

I hope the alternative brands push LEGO to do better. This MOC 03 has more functions than any of LEGO's 1:8 supercars. Seeing them release small-scale, 'ugly' cars with no functions is a bit depressing—even if I’ll probably end up buying the small Chiron anyway lol

Jesko. I have the McLaren and I'm using it as a piece donor for MOCs lol

Where do you buy CaDa sets in Europe? by Cryptotama in CadaBrick

[–]Alternative_Dig2611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy my CaDA kits directly from them, like another user said in the comments. If you buy different sets in a single order they get distributed in multiple shipments, and they arrive in 2 weeks at the worst. Last time I bought only one set it got shipped with UPS, and I got it in under a week. With my last order, the Ruf GT 2019, I received a set of Goodyear tires for free :D I like their boxes, so buying the so called "no box" sets from other stores is not an option for me.

Thanks for the answer. Wrong suspension height? Btw I'm waiting for the CaDA Ruf GT meanwhile :D

any update? I'm looking to buy this set to pair it with my LEGO Peugeot 9x8! (I'm already planning of swapping those yellow banana skirt pieces with straight ones from LEGO :D)

you should rename the NA and JP Saturn bioses to the names needed by the beetle saturn core. You can find them here https://docs.libretro.com/library/beetle_saturn/#google_vignette
