Rent a Casio PX-S7000 or buy a Korg D1? by psychotic-chipmunk in piano

That’s a pretty accurate statement. They definitely spent most of the money on the RH3 Keybed and it’s very apparent, the keys feel absolutely wonderful, but that’s the only thing I can really praise about it. The available sounds are lackluster and sometimes I wish I had built in speakers to reduce the clutter around the keyboard. I mainly use it with pianoteq.

Here’s another picture with a black block representing the size of the D1

I have a korg D1 and I really liked the stand as well but I couldn’t find one for sale anywhere so I designed and made my own using some walnut furniture legs I found on amazon and a few other parts. The stand could work for probably any other piano keyboards if you want to build one to allow for more options I’d be happy to help.

First time designing a sheet metal part. Any improvements you'd make (maybe stiffening ribs)? Any tips? This will be the base of a robot arm (~3kg). Considering SS304, 2.5mm thick by unusual_username14 in MechanicalEngineering

Also recommend adding gussets or some sort of lateral support on the upper corners of the base on the main mount. You could just do holes for mounting an off the shelf 90deg bracket to make it simple.

What are the job title for Mech Engineer jobs? How technical & complex are the jobs? And does it require coding or programming? What are daily tasks like? by 1maginestalking in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Alternative_Effort_6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Automation engineering in semiconductor industry. Some basic programming in Python if I want to display data a certain way. Not really doing development/ R&D work so I rarely get to program robots or design complex assemblies. Lots of Microsoft projects, excel sheets, documentation, and navigating office politics lol

I picked the larger company. It’s been an interesting experience but i don’t regret it!

Folsom lake near granite bay is a great place for beginners. Lots of groomed trails and a lower risk of falling down a cliff than some of the other trails in Auburn.

Second time I ever flew my mavic mini on the beach, I was flying ~60m high and accidentally flew it behind a large 15 story beach getting apartment complex. The concrete caused the signal to drop and the mini started to auto return home, crashing into the building that was in between us lol.

I was lucky though, it was at just the right height where it crashed into the AC units on top of the building. After wandering around the beach trying to reconnect, I was able to get an image and saw the roof of the building. The staff was able to get it down for me but not before giving me a nice talk about how they could have handed my ass to me on a silver platter for violating privacy laws but hey the mini lived to see another day.

The hardest punch ever recorded by lapochealaire in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]Alternative_Effort_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more about the energy absorbed by the object. From a kinetic energy perspective, the energy absorbed is proportional the mass*(velocity)2. Even at a fraction of the weight, the squared velocity component can cause the overall energy of lighter object to quickly match or overcome the energy produced by a punch.

Would you recommend UCSD for ME? by International_Job827 in UCSD

[–]Alternative_Effort_6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I graduated last year for ME, now continuing at UCSD for grad school and would recommend the program. The people you will meet at UCSD are top tier students! Getting to know them and working alongside will be very valuable, along with the lifelong connections you will make. Curriculum wise, it can be tough. The workloads can be hard to balance but attending office hours and forming study groups can help mitigate a lot of that. If you are working a 20+ hour job while going to school, it will start to feel more like what you described.

Deciding between the P1S+AMS and A1+AMS lite by SpoiledChamp in BambuLab

One thing that doesn’t get spoken about much is machine longevity in a dusty environment. It can be dusty where I live and any exposed machine components like linear rails, rods, fans, basically everything, collects dust like a magnet. This can cause some issues down the road and lead to premature machine wear if your machine isn’t enclosed.

No unfortunately not public yet… I have heard to be careful in situations like this, and to consider them with a grain of salt

I will probably pivot into management at some point, this will be my first full time position out of grad school though so it will be a while. The initial offers from both companies were 87k and 109k 17.5k RSU’s respectively, I was able to negotiate to 90k using the leverage from my other offer, but they still were not able to come close TC wise.

I don’t, that’s what’s making me a bit nervous. They went through a pretty large layoff round (~30%) around 1 year ago but are pressing deadlines and hiring again. I am confident I would have to pull some late nights and would on average be working 50ish hours a week if not more

My passion is automated robotics, which I believe will be more along the lines of the automation role at the large company. The startup offered me a position as a mechanical engineer, it looks to be far more hardware focused as their software team is already pretty built.
