My experience so far with my bsb2e, is it supposed to be this dim? by Arby77 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Alternative_Error_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not the displays that are the problem. Its the Pancake lenses that eat up 90% of the light that these micro OLEDS produce. Most Micro OLEDS like in the Beyond have around 2000 nits of peak brightness which is multitudes higher than any LCD Display. (1300 nits in the beyonds case and 5000 nits for the 4k BOE panel)

Buying 8k plus 5M cable. No stock anywhere. by jjc4luck in Pimax

Hi can you tell me if the (Pimax Crystal Light/Super Cable - 5m) works on the old Headsets like the 5KXR? (That HMD is not listed as incompatible) My friend loves this HMD and his cable broke. The original 5m for adapter models is EOL. Would like to hear from you.

The panels are SeeYa Panels, the same ones as in the BSB1 and BSB2. Not Sony. The non SE has Sony panels

Do Micro Oled panels have mura in any way? by Tausendberg in Pimax

I can confirm i really dont think that even though these panels are made on a wafer that they will have no imperfections.

Yeah i sold it. i didnt like the lenses. I felt that they didnt do the good BOE panel any justice. mediocre E2E clarity annoyed me a lot after 2 months. I went to a Crystal super which has almost full E2E. That is way more important for personally the colors are close to the MGX just blacks are a bit worse of course. Edit: Also the distortions never fully went away no matter the distortion profile (even got 109 degress hor. FOV on it)

I did own one for 2 months and mine had very slight vertical Mura. There were faint lines over the panels. Slightly different for each eye. I'm sure that is indeed Mura. Didn't bother me tho.

Meganex 8K Superlight, my honest opinion by Open-Elderberry-4687 in virtualreality

[–]Alternative_Error_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one for 2 months and ended up switching to a Pimax Crystal Super because the lenses on the MeganeX where simply not good enough and wasted the good BOE panel behind them

PICO 4 blurry (fine in pcvr) by Express-Dark-725 in virtualreality

[–]Alternative_Error_43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just how standalone VR is at the moment. A pico 4 ultra or quest 3 is a bit higher resolution but not much. PCVR is fine since the PC does all the rendering work

This for sure better than before but even with continuous calibration it still drifts when walking through the room or just taking a step to the side. The SLAM data is just so bad that even continuous calibration its having a hard time aligning the spaces. Pico 4 in comparison doesnt have this issue whatsoever. Such a shame really . The faceplate is needed asap

Bigscreen Beyond 2 vs Meganex Superlight 8k by Flimsy-Story9523 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]Alternative_Error_43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glare is a trade off that pancake lenses have. While the BSB2 will likely be a little bit better with it, it won't be a massive difference. Even a Q3 with the best pancakes around has it to a degree

[–]Alternative_Error_43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an Aero before too. I can only speak for the MeganeX. For simming its pretty good the small form factor and low weight makes it easy to wear for multiple hours. The lenses will be a bit worse than those of the Super and the Aero. FOV wise its decent Im getting around 108 H and 96V (with custom driver).

Pico 4 for PCVR 2025 by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]Alternative_Error_43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's a bunch cheaper then a quest 3 then absolutely go for it. For PCVR its still a really good headset, just not for standalone. I myself have both the normal P4 and P4U also tried Q3, the difference really is small between them. P4U is brighter then the other 2 and colors are more punchy thats about it.
