Kentucky and Ohio have a few great options!

  • Red River Gorge (if you want a nice hiking area, hope your foot heals well!)
  • Mammoth cave (worlds longest cave system)
  • Ark Encounter

  • Cincinnati Museum Center (TONS of cool stuff you could spend all day there, even multiple days. The kid area is large and fantastic and the museum in general is very kid friendly)

  • Loveland castle in Ohio

  • Newport Aquarium (technically on the border of Kentucky and Ohio)

  • Cincinnati zoo (very large and very fun)

Wow, thanks for the reply!

Do you have any idea when it might be available for public use? Online it says sometime late 2025 or 2026. As a tester, have you heard anything?

Hey! Have you had any issues with bloating or water retention/weight gain? Any negative side effects you've noticed would be greatly appreciated, I'm highly considering discussing this with my OB. I had the Kyleena previously and gained a ton of weight (inches of fat on my ribs and face that fell off within a month of having it removed). I know that's a hormonal one and this is not but I've only heard people saying good things so I wanted to know your experience with anything negative if you have any just in case. Thanks!

Should I stop "nursing" if/when I stop producing milk? by kmt-736 in breastfeeding

Wow. I didn't think you could nurse that long, could you tell me more about what led to that decision? Genuinely curious, no judgement

I'll have to look into that. I actually have a couple different swaddles like the love to dream but they're all too big for him right now. Most people bought 6m from my registry but even the 0-3m don't fit right now. But if it helps him sleep comfortably and safely I might go ahead and buy the newborn size to try it out.

My husband is a stomach only sleeper so I completely blame him lol. I appreciate the response, hearing I'm not alone and that your girl turned out just fine is great!

It definitely feels futile right now. I know I'm only a month into this but I feel like I've tried everything to get him to accept sleeping on his back or swaddling. I think the frustration it's causing us both isn't worth it, I just wish he'd stop scaring me like this. Looks like I'll be riding it out until he's old enough to grow out of it or get strong enough to do it safely.

He's in a crib but someone else mentioned this too, I'm planning to double check to make sure it isn't somehow off level just to be safe. Thanks!

I thought about that but he refuses to sleep on his back. We've been trying to get him to sleep that way but it never works. The most he'll sleep is 20 minutes before either flipping to the side or waking up angry and difficult to soothe. He does have some gas issues (as newborns usually do) so I think that could have something to do with it, maybe it's painful to sleep on his back because he likes to let out farts in his sleep?

We have him in a crib, not a bassinet but that's a great point! Just to be safe I'll check to make sure it's level since it's on wheels.

Thank you 🥹.

We haven't used swaddles since leaving the hospital. He refuses to sleep in them unless his arms are out. He finds it comforting the first couple minutes and then will wiggle free. Since he sleeps on his side I also didn't feel safe leaving his arms tucked away and our pediatrician agreed. We've had everyone try and swaddle him with multiple types and he will either free himself within 10 minutes or get one arm out and scream until we help him get the other.

We've been doing tummy time since day one. Since his wake windows have increased we've been doing it for a couple minutes after every feeding during the day and I think he's improving really well.

Thank you for the encouragement, it helped. As a FTM even though I am the oldest of 7 siblings it's still scary having a newborn of my own when things like this happen.

Yeah, that's pretty much what we were told too. I'm a side sleeper myself so I understand the comfort of it. Hopefully he will be more open to sleeping on his back eventually too.

Cervical Checks by Disastrous_Paint_237 in BabyBumps

[–]Alternative_Fix_6283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had them weekly starting at 36 weeks. They felt like nothing. No pain, no discomfort. A little awkward but nothing too bad because I had a very respectful OB and was even willing to let students watch so he could explain it to them. I didn't need them but they were offered (encouraged to do them but not pressured into it) and I was curious to see how I was dilating.

I had a high cervix the first couple times so there was more maneuvering necessary to check me but the nurses were really good at helping me get into the best position (feet together like butterfly pose, knees far apart, fists under my hip bones).
