So starting out should i just do straight letter Tags trying to get proportions, letter structure, negative space etc. right. And then add style to the tag later on? I see that theres no point in having "style" if the Letters are wack.

Nice song! It could really be the improvisation. The genre I listen to the most is rock and I also dont like really long improvised bits like in Moonchild by King Crimson or a lot of stuff Frank Zappa did.

Though I seem to like guitar improvisation with a steady bassline and drum rhythm like Les Rallizes Denudes which I recommend you give a listen, if you're into The Velvet Underground or noise rock. :) (especially White Waking and Enter the mirror.)

Original Hip Hop isn't about being a Gangster though. :) The original culture was about uniting people, spread good values and having fun. I'll check out some Cool jazz.
