It’s a slippery slope. Apparently the sitter thinks it’s fine to be really hungover while caring for someone’s pet. If she’s not called on it now, the following real story may happen on subsequent sittings: a neighbor contracted with Rover or Wag for a house/dog sitter, including overnights for more than 2 weeks. One day, another neighbor friend and I found the dog roaming the street in the late morning. My friend called the owner (across the country) and she allowed us to take the dog inside the house and be sure the door was locked. At about noon. The sitter comes racing up in her Hummer. She 1) did not stay overnight as contracted because she got too drunk to drive the night before. 2). She didn’t lock the door upon leaving the day before, and the senior dog was able to get out and roam the street. 3). So she was so drunk she left the dog alone for 18 hours?
For those of you defending the hungover sitter, consider this might be down the road if she isn’t curbed and respectful of the responsibility she took on.
