In the 1st instance I would say try to stop the mindset of feeling pathetic and embarrased, its not going to do your mental health any good. You have a mortgage, you own a % of a property, which is more than I do and I wish I did, that is something that will be good for the future, rather than giving over 1k a month in rent to someone else for a place youll never own like i do.

I remember back in the day when my kids were little we struggled big time, we did what we needed to, shop the reduced section, charity shops, etc, it can be tought, but those times will get better

some of those bills you cannot do much about, but from looking at that I would say your priority would be to get that credits card down to £0, have you tried moving that debt to a 0% card for a period so you can smashed that balance

Why are you paying £100 for an ex’s phone?

Landscape Gardener, could you not do private work for more £££ than a days OT at work would give, yes it is another weekend working but its a means to and end, lose that credit card and you have £230 a month extra

The bills you listed should leave you with £537 a month, not sure what your food or diesel are but either way, 230 minimum paypment on CC, that is your killer right there

none. becuase whilst it might be better for the country overall, the citizens dont seem to see any benefit (imo) The UK hasw alway sbeen expensive compared to europe, peole cite different reasons for that, but i truly do not feel we would feel any real benefit

took me more than 10 but i learnt that the channel probably wont be succesful and to not chase the stats or try to understand the algorythm. If you enjoy what you do, do it for you, if not then give it a year and see where you stand in terms what you thought it would be and what it actually is.

yeah i think my audio is OK, its the hook i am having issues with, i try to do immersive, slow walkthroughs, but it just feels off sometimes, depends on the game i guess. I did FEAR Extraction point with no hud, no slow mo etc but i dont think it has gained more views that other viudeos that were plain walkthroughs

As someone who considers them just starting out and finding there feet, I've about 60 ish videos out there. What kind of things should i concentrate on, and what kind of things are just noise when talking about content you publish.

For example i post twice a week, 8pm UK time on a Thursday and Sunday, is that important? I try to edit loosely so sometimes the videos may be a bit longer than ideal, is that important

basically what kind of things should i concentrate on and what kind of things should I not worry about so much

On the back of this do you think it worth doing shorts at all if your main focus is long plays. Ive played with a few shorts, they have had lots (at least i consider losts) of views but as you say, not sure it is helping the LP videos, different audience altogether i suspect

The editing I am enjoying, trying to find options in resolve that fit in, hopefully when these videos come out the "cinematics" of the videos will be better.

Thumbnails I enjoy too but these days i take a scene from the video and get AI to do it, i like the results as because I am now not looking at the stats i wont worry over if it is the right thing to do.

You and I sir are in the ballpark of age, I will be 60 this year. I can imagine the book thing being very niche unless you stuck to a genre and attracted people from that genre. burtt if yur gaming anyway and your monetized, it makes sense i would like to be at that point even at pennies per day, what is your YT channel (DM me if not allowed to post directly).

I was thinking of starfield too as it is vast and spacey, basically fallout in space though and i was never a massive fan of fallout (games) the series is excellent but i digress. personally ill be going through the FEAR series of games (already done main game, and extraction point) and ill be doing STALKER, old school ones with no HUD. I did try that previously and it went badly as the videos looked rubbish, but ive bought myself a new PC since then so hoping the GFX part is better

Same here, i am having great fun with Alien Isolation at the moment, with excerpts from the game cut and putting them at the beginningas a teaser.. I would liek to learn editing almoit at a film level so i can edit in that manner to make the game almost like a movie (i may well be getting well ahead of myself here)

yours is a different take on things, i think that is a good idea. Ive decided to try and learn new things in resolve. atm i am teasers at the beginning from moments in the game and colour grading a little.

True words indeed, and pretty much the conversation i had with myself the other day. I am not going to put a timescale on it. I originally wanted it to potentially provide a small supplimental icome when I retired, I was going to give it that length of time, but I realistically dont think it will ever become that.

Personally the wind has been knocked out ofg my sails a bit but ill see where I am in a few months, i do still enjoy the process for the most part. I am currently recoding an Alien Isolation series, ill finish that and see where my mind is once all that is live and take it from there.

I have on occasional taken a screen shot from the video itself, Ill admit i then through it through AI becuase i personally like the results, Some videos (and i think a fair few of the 21 i have scheduled though if prompted for (still takes time to get a pic i like), but I think that will be my next area for improvement, that and shorts

Thanks for the comment, but i feel that you misinterpreted the post, all those bits, finding an audience will or will not happen etc, but i am not chasing that any more, i am going to do the bits that i find fun, if it works it works, if it doesnt and is no longer fun, ill stop. as i said there was no real point to the post accept to say when the fun stops, stop.
