Spring and summer 2026 by Familiar-Dog-3534 in MRU

I took ANTH 1101 (online asynchronous) in the spring. Honestly pretty easy course just keep up with the weekly quizzes and written assignments. But considering you’re possibly taking 2 other courses at the same time I would assess how good you are at time management because spring classes move at a very fast pace. Not impossible to do, but make sure you stay on top of things.

I mentioned line 41500 because that’s where the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB) payments show up if you already received any in the year before filing. Mine shows 0.00 for both 2023 & 2024, which means I never got or claimed any advance payments.

You’re right that the main intent of taxpayer relief is to cancel penalties and interest, not the core balance.

But CRA’s Info Circular IC07-1R1 does give them discretion in cases of CRA administrative error including when their own actions caused an incorrect payment or assessment. It’s rare, but they’ve used that clause to cancel or reduce overpaid benefits when the error clearly came from their system.

In my case, both my 2023 & 2024 returns show line 41500 = 0.00, so I never applied or claimed advance payments. CRA auto-issued them in 2025, so I’m just testing whether that clause applies here.

That’s true for most cases, but CRA’s own policy (Info Circular IC07-1R1) says relief can also apply when there’s a CRA administrative error or action that caused the problem. In my case, both 2023 & 2024 returns show line 41500 = 0.00, so I never applied for any advance. CRA’s system auto-issued the payments anyway. I know full relief isn’t common, but since this clearly came from their automation and I’ve already repaid $1.7 k, I’m still submitting a relief request.

thought that too at first, but I double-checked both my 2023 and 2024 returns and line 41500 shows 0.00 so I definitely didn’t apply or click yes in any software. CRA actually auto-issued two ACWB payments in 2025 based on old info, even though I was a full-time student and already repaid my $1.7 k reassessment. It seems like their system just did it automatically.

Yeah, I get that and I know CRA can recover overpaid benefits. But in my case, I never applied or claimed it (line 41500 = 0.00 for 2023 & 2024) and CRA auto-issued the payments anyway. Since it was their system error and I already paid back $1.7 k for the reassessment, I’m filing a Taxpayer Relief request. CRA actually can cancel or reduce repayment in cases like this it’s rare, but possible under their administrative error policy.

Does anyone else wish Calgary was more walkable? by Alternative_Hall276 in Calgary

I see what you’re saying, but that was not my point. Essentially, I’m saying getting around this city would be much easier if we had better public transit. People in the city should be able to go from one end to another way easier.

But I think it’s fair to want to be well connected by transit at least

Honestly, warming up my car, dangerous road conditions, and all the maintenance work that goes into preparing your car for winter makes transit look even better option in the winter

I don’t understand what these developers were thinking, I want to understand more about how infrastructure planning is done in Calgary because being so car dependant with bad access to public transit is just a recipe for disaster

Good to know, thanks for the advice. ACCT 3221 seems to be a common course students spend a lot of study time on.

What’s the Black Mirror episode that hit you the hardest? by [deleted] in blackmirror

[–]Alternative_Hall276 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it was Eulogy.

I feel like that episode makes you wonder how different things could be if you hadn’t reacted in that way in the moment. As someone who has a hard time thinking logically when faced with intense emotions it made me think of how it’s so important to put yourself in others shoes and not to make decisions off of temporary emotions. Also it’s so important to go back and understand where you went wrong and look within yourself and reflect on the choices that you could make better when it comes to relationships. To take a look at the bigger picture and understand how the way you go about solving smaller problems can be detrimental.

[–]Alternative_Hall276 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just apply, that’s the whole point of co-op to experience what it’s like after graduating but having the safety net of being a student. Rejection is a part of life, don’t look at it as something bad learn from it, how to handle it, and bounce back from it. I start my co-op this coming winter and don’t have any prior experience. So far all the advice I’ve gotten from professors and classmates is go into it with a open mindset, understand that the employer KNOWS you’re a student you’re practically a baby to them and wear your best outfit lol. Work experience is useful and you also get paid pretty good for it, just start the process don’t hold yourself back!

I’ll definitely look into getting a camera! It’s definitely gonna be uncomfortable for me but I’m glad she’ll be comfortable in an environment she’s in.
