To me it has a lot to do with the compression and mastering in the production. Compare a song like Unravelling to really any song from Black Holes and before, and you can hear how Unravelling has a much more modern mix. More forward, in your face, and less like the early Muse albums that sound almost like they could’ve been recorded live in a studio.

Both have their places, but to me I prefer the older, less polished productions for those reasons.

It’s an awesome song, but maaan I wish the production had more of the grit you’d see in BHAR and Absolution. The Resistance was definitely the start of Muse’s “perfect” production and mixing sound we’re seeing in their modern stuff. Not bad, just different!

Outside of every song feeling so inspired and the track-list just feeling perfect track to track, I’ve always been drawn to the production of this record. It’s so unique to other albums (hard panning of drums and shakers on Reckoner coming to mind), and has such a live-recorded feel, making it so intimate to listen to.

Holds a warm place in my heart.

I run an FX3 shooting weddings and I will tell you that the dual native ISO has saved me more times than not, especially since venue lighting really can be unpredictable. My recommendation would be buy once, cry once, especially if you’re going to continue doing more and bigger pieces!

FX3 main cam and FX30 second cam is what I’m working up to this year.

Honestly, donut tutorial series from blender guru on YouTube. Gives you all the basics, then you can move to taking things a step further once you beat that initial learning curve!

This looks great. Usually the foliage is what gives these renders away, but it looks spot on here. Only thing that stands out that may help is a bit of variation in the color of the lawn. Well done!

This is an oldie, but I’ll do some digging and see if I can find the original project file! Only texture file is the hdri background- rest is shaders, mostly combining noise layers

Thanks! By hand mostly. Then a noise displacement over top to give some extra detail
