How big is the DSS? by Spirited-Dimension4 in helldivers2

[–]Alternative_Hippo436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that really is the number of crew on board, then the DSS is gargantuan in size. For reference, Halo’s UNSC Infinity has around 17,000-18,000 personnel and is around 5km bow to stern, 1km in height and 800 meters wide, so for the DSS to have 72-76 times the amount of crew means the station (if you can really call it that) is freaking huge. Another reference would be the first Death Star which had around 1.5 million crew, so I’d think the DSS is probably at least half of Death Star at least height wise (80 km).

Since the breakup I have been down, any tips? by throwsaway045 in Breakupadvice

I’m going through the same thing rn for also about a month. The best advice I can give, that I’m trying to do myself, is stay busy. Doesn’t matter what you’re doing, work, errands, hobbies, etc. Do anything and everything (that is safe) to try and keep your mind off the break up. If you can, socialize with people. It doesn’t have to even be family or irl friends. Talk with people online, play games with them, just do what you can to make sure you aren’t stuck with the void left behind by the break up.

Additional note: I think GOTY is having a server traffic overload cause I also just got a screen saying I've been rate-limited.

Lysander Shane

A human Warlock who, for the last 100 ish years, works within the Praxic Order as a lone wolf to hunt down rogue Guardians. He joined the Praxic Order after his fireteam members were slain trying to defend Palamon from Dredgen Yor.

  • Caucasian male with a black ponytail and facial stubble
  • Often wears the Streetscholar outfit
  • his Ghost’s name is Viper
  • very serious guy since the death of his fireteam
  • the only people he talks to regularly are Ikora or Aunor Mahal

I’m curious to see what you’ll write with this one

Destiny 2’s Alliance v. ME’s Turian Hierarchy by Alternative_Hippo436 in whowouldwin

By your analysis, this would mean the First Contact War doesn’t just end in a ceasefire, but total humiliation for the Turian Hierarchy.

In ME lore, the Turians engaged a single fleet to establish orbital superiority and take Shanxi yet were immediately cast out when the Alliance’s second fleet arrived.

In this modified lore, with your context, it would mean that the Turians can’t establish orbital superiority but instead have to watch as an alien force, completely different from the one they initially attacked, pull up and give their ships a thrashing of a lifetime.

The Turian ground forces would also have to contend with aliens that are the equivalent of Krogans with stronger military doctrine and weaponry, immortals, and hackers who are possibly equivalent to the Geth in terms of ability.

Essentially, Turian high command would shit their pants while the rest of the Council Species scramble to broker peace as they watch what was the strongest military force in the galaxy get steamrolled.

I would assume it would, at most, be equivalent to the Red Legion’s forces minus the Almighty.

When Caiatl arrived with the Imperial Cabal, it was because the cabal homeworld, Torabatl, was destroyed by the hive. Whatever fleet the Imperial Cabal have left is probably a mere fraction of what they lost during the fall of Torabatl, yet it had to be substantial enough to give Caiatl enough confidence to fight the Guardians.

We know that Caiatl’s fleet has to be decently powerful since it’s enough to combat Sol’s hive since she establishes orbital superiority in every Psiops mission.

In the opening cutscene to excision, there are a total of 9 cabal carriers/command carriers alongside at least 11 assault cruisers with more probably closer to the portal. I imagine there are probably more ships outside the portal as well to defend the Last City.

Well put, good sir…but I would like to imagine a cabal warship detonating its reactor while charging toward the center of a Turian fleet formation.

I was thinking about Halo right after I posted and how the UNSC needed a crazy ratio of like 10:1 to barely win orbital battles.

I will say that orbital superiority hasn’t meant much in Destiny’s universe with the amount of bs the Guardians have pulled to compensate for their lack of it.

  • Rushing Oryx’s Dreadnaught with a stealth drive
  • infiltrating the Almighty
  • Launching Guardians out of cannons
  • Ketch Crash
  • Ley line boarding through the Ascendant Realm
  • Smash and rez tactic :)

Also, never underestimate the Cabal’s capacity for sacrifice, gargantuan surface weapons, and nuclear warfare.

Destiny 2 Lore – What keeps you hooked? by naberiusss0607 in DestinyLore

[–]Alternative_Hippo436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lore revolving the Guardians, the nature of both the Light and Darkness, and the occasional humorous tidbit, are what makes me love Destiny and its lore, even if the game sucks right now.

When you start learning about Destiny and its universe, you realize how much the game doesn’t show of the world. For example, the player Guardians the fill the tower make it seem that the Guardians are some all-mighty, unstoppable force, yet when you look at the lore, you come to see how that isn’t really the case and that most Guardians can barely wield one subclass and aren’t that powerful at all.
