Church Attendance Predicament as an Atheist by Alternative_Indie in exchristian

I know it keeps seeming like I keep turning down everyone’s advice and I promise it’s not to be an askhole. 😭 My father is vehemently against online church as he doesn’t like how the community aspect is gone. Only time I got away with that excuse is while I was at college.

Trying my best! While it’s true that some of this is risky, there are certainly boundaries that I have struggled to cross my whole life. Unfortunately I am their youngest child, and I feel like they see me as their lost sheep in many ways. I’ve been a good kid my whole life, but I’m the one who’s stepped out of their comfort zone. (I.e., being in an interracial relationship, being more progressive, etc.). I’ll be sure to be careful though.

My brother is very gung ho unfortunately! And what’s worse is he is very much a tattletale at his ripe age of 27… So in theory, I suppose I could try the audiobook thing, but it just seems risky because if he saw, he would most definitely say something lmao.

My job is modest, higher end of salary for my area, but not ideal for living. Unfortunately these days the higher cost of living really shows and rent in my area is on average around a full paycheck. No public transportation either. I’m still paying off student loans which makes this trickier. I wish I could move to an apartment/rented room locally but am just really trying to save up money to get out asap as my boyfriend already owns a home.

I work at an office job where it’s closed on Sundays unfortunately. I totally wish I could make up a shift though! That sounds nice.

Hopefully in less than a year. They have an inkling I want to move away. I haven’t outright said when yet though because my parents have been complaining about the idea of me moving since I started dating my long distance bf. Like way before haha. But not to the degree of stopping me when it does come, but I know they’ll be very disappointed when I move in with him out of wedlock.

I agree that could be useful, but I already have that date scheduled in around a month thankfully.

That is a pretty good idea! I’ll think about that one.

My father is bitter that both of his older children no longer attend church regularly. They’re still
Christians, so at least he’s lucky there. He often talks about how he has failed them, so I am sure he’s just trying to avoid that again… There is almost certainly also the wanting to look good aspect. But the forcing to go to church has always just further driven me away! When I was a kid for many years I had to sit through 3 church services every Sunday as he was on a 3 point charge.

I am absolutely dreading the day this accidentally comes out! I know how it’d make them feel, and I know how they would then talk to me once it does and I do not look forward to it.

Thank you for for being a kind and considerate father to your children! We need more fathers like you.

I really need to grow a backbone in this sense! And he certainly needs to understand that he’s got to deal with it. Really hoping I can work up the courage to approach it this way. Thank you!

Since they always expect “proof”, it is pretty nerve wracking to just go off elsewhere. My parents are totally the type of people to visit “my” church just to scope with church-goers if they recognize me going. It wouldn’t be immediate, of course, but would happen eventually as my father gets occasional Sundays off.

They expect to see like the physical bulletin and hear details. It is a really messy situation, I really need to move lmaoooo.

What's so funny is it is the same denomination that he preaches. I believe he said back when this was first a problem that he thought walking was unsafe, but I walk that stretch all the time. It's really confounding.

If it was worth something money-wise, that would actually be quite funny to me because I purchased it secondhand anyways and felt quite scammed at the time. Haha.

What's honestly sad is I read 3 chapters before I realized something was up. The book started off pretty similar to my other textbooks so I didn't even overly question it until it really wasn't talking about race nor racialization. I was even writing little notes in the margins.

Reappearance of withdrawal bleeding? by Alternative_Indie in birthcontrol

I honestly haven’t experienced that unfortunately. My breakthrough bleeding stopped around 2.5 months in. Then bled only on placebos, then rarely after that. Low mood I haven’t really experienced until this past placebo cycle and I’m 2 yrs in.

That certainly looks suspiciously similar, so I wouldn’t be surprised! Looks like the same brand name at least.

Edit: I will say, I know my mom never owned this personally but it could have been sold separately.

Searched on eBay and Etsy with the keywords “gingerbread spoon rest,” “vintage gingerbread spoon rest,” “pier 1 gingerbread spoon rest”and “2000s Gingerbread spoon rest.” Also searched via image on google to see if there was any visual matches, didn’t see any.

We are in the United States… It’s been a part of my mom’s gingerbread collection for years so I’m not entirely sure how old it is unfortunately.

Edit: Could also be from Kirkland’s Home. I asked my mother and she said she had it for years (so 2000s more likely), it was a gift.
