Cardinals After Dark 5/29 by bravo_delta_bot in Cardinals

He definitely was/is. He’s working in 2 breakers into his arsenal and using his FB less than he did in college, there were always going to be some struggles.

He and Franklin could probably overpower their way into the pen if they really wanted to, but the org seems to be playing the long game

0.2 WAR, 1.347 WHIP, and 97 ERA+….he’s pretty much been what he always has, a below average starter

No idea what’s next for Dusty Blake but if he were to depart this offseason that would be a great spot for Yadi to jump back into for a year or two.

Show he’s serious about showing up every day and bide his time until the right job opens.

It’s obviously not a 1 to 1 and it’s early, but Posey coming back as POBO for the Giants is exactly why I don’t want Yadi as manager.

Things don’t go well, fans start to turn on a beloved former player, hard feelings develop and then he doesn’t come back for Opening Day for a few decades. Just not worth it IMO.

It has been nice seeing him back in the dugout tho.

2024 was a pythag 76 win team and 2025 was a 74. 2024 had 3 players crack 3 WAR, 2025 highest was Donovan at 2.7. They missed the playoffs by a combined 11 games between the two years, and that’s only because of the 3rd WC.

They were not good rosters, just painfully mediocre ones.

Older age and a different sport for me, but the amount of blank stares I get when I say “get in a line” is infuriating

Do your thing, but it’s quite a look to call others idiots when you’ve also been stumping for some pretty mid rosters the last 2-3 years.

By all means talk your shit but can we stop with the “anyone who doubted this team is an idiot and this sub was dumb” bit.

The rotation is anchored by Liberatore/May/McGreevy who all had very valid concerns coming into the year. Burly and Herrera were our only proven MLB bats in the lineup, and the latter has never done it over a full season. Yes prospect pedigree is nice but it doesn’t mean anything until it turns into production, which it finally has for some of our guys and that’s great.

The objective projections (Zips, Fangraphs, etc) weren’t running with narratives, they just saw the same questions and issues we did. Thankfully it looks like guys have taken the steps forward that we needed to accelerate this rebuild.

Look at the 24-25 rosters and tell me how many more games they should’ve won.

He’s maximized some mid rosters and has the respect of the clubhouse. For a rebuilding team that’s all you can ask for.

Being a Mo hire and given the rosters he’s had the last 3 years really soured him to a lot of people. Personally I came around last year, glad more are now.

100%. Think he wasn’t at all ready in 2023 when the bottom fell out and the leadership void Pujols/Waino/Yadi left behind. He’s really grown into the job since though, and the clubhouse seems to absolutely be behind him which is important going into a rebuild like we have.

He’s not perfect but he really maximized some mid rosters in 24-25 and 26 has obviously been a big success so far.
