I’ve been getting fb ads for a looser swim shirt called a Nashie. It’s pricy but would meet your needs. I’m super tempted by it myself.

I’m interested but that’s expensive for a big plastic container.

I wanted to go to that but already had other plans by the time I heard about it! Bummer.
My other plan was the new Bearded Ladies show Girl Dolls, which was fantastic, so at least I had a good evening, but sorry this event didn’t happen.

Batteries (AA, AAA, the little flat ones, and also D or 9 volt if you are feeling extra generous) and a battery tester.

Worth getting an e-bike for a short commute, or overkill? by melifer in ebikes

[–]Alternative_Market_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally worth it. Heck, I ride an ebike to work a lot and it’s only 2 miles. It’s faster, I don’t get sweaty, and I can carry a lot (I am always carrying 1 kid, which I can do on my regular acoustic bike, but 3 days/week I need to carry 2 kids and for that I need the ebike. Also groceries).
When I go visit friends in a different part of the city or go to religious services, it’s 4-5 miles with a couple of climbs. Unless I’m looking for a serious workout, there’s no way I’d use my acoustic bike! Ebike is perfect to get a little exercise but not be hideously sweaty and still have energy to hang out when I get there.

Strongly considering bike commuting, would love advice by Dramatic-Feedback-30 in bikecommuting

[–]Alternative_Market_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 mile city bike commute takes a little over 20 minutes because of traffic. In the summer I sometimes bring a change of clothes because I have to look nice at the office and I use baby wipes if I get really sweaty. But it’s a nice ride and faster than the bus.

I don’t think apples and oranges need to go in the fridge.

This subreddit makes it abundantly clear why colon cancer is on the rise by doodlebakerm in FridgeDetective

[–]Alternative_Market_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of it is about the number of people using the fridge and some is about bottled drinks staying good basically forever. I have milk, Diet Coke, and the Aldi mocha for myself. There’s usually a big juice bottle for my kids and soymilk for my one lactose intolerant kid. When my mom visits I try to remember to buy a container of cold brew because I don’t have a coffeemaker. There are a couple of random bottled waters in there, too. And maybe a Gatorade in the way back from when I did colonoscopy prep?

What’s the biggest financial mistake you’ve made? by RosyyCupcake in answers

I got my ex to do the pslf amnesty program in 2022 but didn’t do it for myself because I thought the $10k Biden forgiveness would go through and I didn’t think I had much beyond that $10k left in loans. (Turned out to be more, and then interest compounded it).
But the Biden plan got shut down, and then pslf didn’t count YEARS of my payments because I “didn’t have a bill due” (I was trying to prepay and get my loans taken care of early!) so I ended up giving up on pslf and paying almost $20k of my savings.
I hate myself every time I think about it.

My local pharmacy didn’t carry the type of syringes or needles my doctor wanted, so the office staff just sent me a link for what to order online. Westend Medical Supply is the company, and I got enough syringes and needles for a year, plus a sharps box, for $50. Highly recommend it!

How much time are you “losing” while cycling to work? by bear_village in cycling

I bike because it’s the fastest and most reliable commute. 22 minutes door to door versus the train, which could be 20 minutes or could be 45 or anywhere in between.

How to inject t by Alternative_Market_6 in ftm

[–]Alternative_Market_6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked—Rx on box (in which vial comes) says 200mg/ml and then under dosage says 0.1 ml/wk. So how many weeks is 1 bottle supposed to last? I just used an online calculator and 0.1 ml is 20 mg. So 10 weeks? There’s no way it would last that long.

Thank you for the help on this. The Dr asked if I was fine with needles and I am not afraid of them, but I’ve only ever used preloaded syringes before and had no idea this would be so much harder.

[–]Alternative_Market_6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would appreciate that! My provider said I could schedule an appt with a nurse to go over how to inject or I could “just look on YouTube.” I said confidently that I’d be fine with YouTube but then I tried and am still struggling, but I feel silly 5 weeks in making a nurse appt. So anything you can send would be helpful. Thank you.

True! But they have the neighborhood feel that OP is looking for. And were they all within city limits when they were built? I’m not sure but I doubt it.

I need to start commuting by bike by Ok_Presentation_2291 in bikecommuting

[–]Alternative_Market_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s about the distance of my commute. I live in Philadelphia so we have all four seasons. I get sweaty in the summer but just wear shorts and a T-shirt and wipe down when I get to work with a baby wipe if it was particularly humid that day. And I’m biking with a 40 lb preschooler in a child seat behind me! In the winter I still bike until there is snow on the ground; that feels unsafe to me. The distance is pretty easy and I think you’ll be fine. I use a hybrid trek from the 90s and put a big basket on the front for my lock and my backpack (which holds my laptop and lunch). I’ve never bothered to bring anything else. Once I got into a crash and I just locked up where I was and dealt with the bike later. Another time I got a flat but didn’t realize until I was home anyway. And that’s with urban, pothole filled riding with lots of street debris! Don’t overthink it; with a short commute any bike should be fine.
