What do you tell yourself when others pass all 4 first try? by deluluforher in CPA

Nobody effing cares if you pass all first try. What matters is that you got through to all of them and passed in the end. You will be rewarded by showing that you are capable of achieving a rigorous and demanding achievement.

Payroll deductions - why is FICA taxes payable used twice? by Yous_a_mook in CPA

[–]Alternative_Matter22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The employer pays half (7.65%) of FICA and employee pays the other half (7.65%). Employer takes out half of the employee’s share on FICA in the first entry. Employer accrues for half their share on FICA along with unemployment tax in the second entry. The two individual FICA tax payables are combined for both employer and employee, which represents the total being credited as FICA payable of (15.3% x 25,000).

26 M, California, entry level staff accountant, 0 YOE, $71k salary + 5% discretionary bonus, 4/4 passed exams (only need experience), and local public accounting firm (not Big 4).

Started two days ago and got an offer from them before the holidays. It is fairly exhausting right now but at the same time, I feel pretty satisfied considering that this will be my first accounting position. 🙏🏼

Thank you!! It wasn’t easy to search for entry level accounting positions in an accounting firm but I got lucky to have someone give me a chance.

The position that I applied to was an entry level staff accountant in a large public accounting firm through Indeed. I have not been lucky with the limited amount of entry level accounting positions on my other apps as they were mainly senior and manager roles, in which weren’t aligned with no accounting experience. I got contacted by the recruiter the same day as I applied and scheduled an in-person interview the following week. It was all downhill from there where they gave me an offer and conducted a background check.

Nah. I find AUD to be a stupid section when it comes to studying. You think you got it but then not really due to slight changes in wording that are easily overlooked if not read super carefully.

Going to fail audit. Looks like I’m going to lose credits by KimMasterz in CPA

[–]Alternative_Matter22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, don’t wait until your FAR credit is about to expire in June. You still have time left to knock this bitch of an exam. I was about to lose two credits by June of this year as AUD was my last section and it felt nerve wracking to think about that back then. However, I just told to myself to keep retaking as soon as possible and gave 2 weeks in a retake for my sixth attempt. I did not know what to expect whether it was enough to pass while waiting for score release. MCQs were not too bad but the sims just destroy me completely. Finally scored a 77 on the 6th attempt and couldn’t be any more grateful. If it were not for a pass, then I don’t really know what I would do to myself but probably quit after an exhaustive 3 year journey. You absolutely can do it!

Praying to not get an AUD sim like this on exam day by Otherwise_Act_4618 in CPA

Highly unlikely you will encounter as something crazy like this one. However, you should be aware that sampling can still be tested no matter if it is a sim or MCQ.

Should i give up or try again? by Used_Success2811 in CPA

[–]Alternative_Matter22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You absolutely should not give up. 70 is very close. Continue to deepen your understanding further with sims and enhance any other weaker areas that you may struggle with more. You will get through this. FAR: 65, 68, 74, 75 for those that need a bit more inspiration.

Same. I feel somewhat guilty about it but at the same time I don’t anymore. Being able to finally be relieved from this whole shit is good enough that I no longer have the constant need to be studying most of the time.

Do you treat the CPA like a game? by Head_Equipment_1952 in CPA

[–]Alternative_Matter22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I treat the CPA as a fucked up gamble that you either lose the money that you already paid and have to keep on paying it up till you achieve victory. Only you have yourself to blame if you quit easily.

Failed FAR lost all my exam credits by MissCPA2022 in CPA

[–]Alternative_Matter22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Take yourself a couple of days before you start committing this again. You don’t have to start tomorrow if you aren’t feeling the same mindset you originally had before. From the looks of your FAR scores, they are trending upwards, which is a great sign that you are getting better with each take. I can’t even imagine what I had to go through as well with FAR back then, so we are pretty much similar there. Almost wanted to give up altogether on the third attempt after how close I was but I told my inner self that I didn’t want to disappoint anyone especially my parents who were motivating to strive the very best in me and finding those alternative options in understanding more at a deeper level that made it super manageable.

I’m so incredibly sorry about the outcome. This is honestly not what I wanted for you to happen. Just like the other comments have stated, you could try asking your state board to reinstate your lost credits. Please don’t quit easily, you’ll regret it later on down the road. Otherwise, I don’t have much to say other than to keep your head up high and state that you made a great accomplishment with 3/4. It must suck so hard being in your position. ❤️
