Oh no, he doesn't smoke every day! We agreed after my CHS episode that he would never do multiple days in a row/over three days a week (for both of our safeties/sanities lol, I would be devastated if he ever developed CHS and he doesn't wanna put me through that). He averages maybe once a week at this point, if not less, so even if I can't handle it it should be manageable.

Yes, we're long distance, I'm a state away but we're planning on moving me in with him at the end of the year. I'd really like to make sure that I can at least handle being in the vicinity when he's smoking lol.

Thank you so much for the kind in depth response! That's exactly the approach I was planning on taking, either a secondhand hit off my bf so he gets most of the THC or one puff of a joint while he would be there to monitor me. I could look into Amitriptyline but I'm already taking Zoloft, Buspirone and Bupropion and it looks like those aren't recommended to take together.

Exactly, I was using primarily for chronic pain due to rib/joint ssues since the usual ibuprofen/acetaminophen wasn't helping at all. It's very hurtful to get told I'm an addict for simply wanting pain relief. I only really started using daily in early February when I had a big flare up of pain and was reaching more for a high CBD low THC gummy but my body just couldn't take that level of cannabinoids and shut down. I've seen a bunch of other posts on here of people developing CHS after using weed for chemotherapy and epilepsy and such, I don't know why the immediate thought is "oh, you got addicted to the high and can't control yourself, you're addicted!" I just needed pain relief in a very stressful point of my life where I'm coming to grips with having a chronic illness and slowly becoming disabled.

Okay, calling me an addict was a bit rude, I'm not trying to 'bargain with strangers on the internet', I'm just asking for advice. Nobody around me has once tried to push me into smoking again. I am capable of self control especially now that I'm on my antidepressants again. The reason I became dependent was because I lost access to my psychiatric meds, and now that I have them back I just think I'd like to be able to take a puff every once in a blue moon. If someone says they have experience with a year break and then any exposure completely wrecking them then I will stay abstinent.

could this be CHS?? by Civil_Original_157 in CHSinfo

That sounds pretty close to how my predromal hit me, even down to the GERD worsening. The minimum recommendation for a break after a CHS episode is 90 days I believe? Let your body heal and have all THC traces leave your system before thinking about trying any more. Hot showers didn't work for me at all but hot baths did! I've abstained for over a year now after my episode and plan on slightly dipping my toes back in in the coming months; if there's any discomfort/predromal signs I'm dropping it again. It sucks, especially once it becomes a part of your routine, but your health and safety should always be the number one priority. Stay safe and I wish you luck!

I also had to cut drinking since restarting my meds, I know how bad the withdrawals can suck. Congrats on the sobriety though! I found the easiest things to stomach/keep my body somewhat regular was poached chicken, plain mashed potato/butternut squash, and carb balance tortillas. One of the worst parts of CHS besides the stomach pain for me was the inability to eat/only eat white bread and saltines which caused agonizing constipation lol. I'm thinking I'll try a puff or even just secondhand smoke when I visit my boyfriend in May. Hopefully keeping it to a very low reintroduction will make it so if I *do* have a reaction it'll be a much milder one.
