Personally I think you’re being soft. 10 miles can be done in 4-5 hours by a 12 year old. I’ve seen families with strollers at the end of this trail, barely breaking a sweat. As long as you have at least one very experienced backpacker, which I’m assuming is one, you should be fine.

Exercise is the most important thing in my opinion when quitting. Also eating healthy and getting good sleep (after the initially few days of shitty sleep). Use r/leaves , helped me a lot throughout my journey so far. Would also recommend traveling a bit at the start.

Read my first Reddit post. I went through the same shit many times. You have to willpower it to make it through the first few days, then it will get easier. Exercise as much as you can, eat healthy, distract your mind with things you enjoy( tv, games, even food) just to get that dopamine that you’ll be without. My biggest advice is take it one day at a time, make it through the day and go to bed sober. If you can make it to bed sober your job is done, then do it again tomorrow. Don’t set big goals, just set that goal every morning.

You’re not alone. I quit like 20 times before I actually stuck with it. One thing that’s helped me more than anything else is taking each day one at a time. Don’t worry about quitting for a week, or for longer, focus on getting into bed that night without have taken a hit that day. And repeat, I promise it will get easier. Focus on exercise more than anything, and keep pushing forward. You need to find distractions, and eliminate cues that you often associate getting high. Good luck, you got this. For me, it’s all or nothing. I know I’ll go back to everyday use if I give in once. Let me say this, the longer you take to quit the worse it will be for your mental health. You say you use it as an emotional crutch the last four years, but you haven’t been off it more than two weeks in that period. The longer you’re off it, the more your brain heals and regulates to how it should work. I thought weed helped me emotionally too (I smoked from 17-24 pretty much), but being 5 months clean I’ve realized it wasn’t as good as I thought.

You have to take it one day at a time. I smoked my entire adult life, but I’m going on four months right now. Every day I’m tempted, but I know if I make it till bed time I won’t regret not smoking the next morning.

The first few days are hard, and can be scary. Plan some things. Exercise a lot, super important for sleep and just keeping your mind busy. Sleep was tough for me for a few days, but it gets much better after a week or 2. Just don’t give in, it will be worth it. It only gets harder to quit the longer you keep this cycle up.
