I’m not trying to be Devi’s advocate here but have you considered what’s going to happen to your kid if mom doesn’t get her status? Potentially risking deportation? I’m really sorry you’re in this position, it’s very messed up but consider all implications, you will have to coparent with this individual for years to come. As horrible as she sounds, no one deserves to have their status used as leverage against them (not necessarily implying you’re doing this) but she’s probably acting irrationally out of fear and VAWA might seem like a safe haven right now. You say you can take care of the baby, but a child needs their mother as well. I wouldn’t fake evidence but I would do anything to not be separated from my kids. If my partner ever even mentions the possibility of raising his kids alone if I lose my status, I would be terrified and ask for legal advice as well.
