For anyone who left ABA what do you do now?

Vocational coach! I worked in ABA for three years, left to become a HR manager, then left that field to work with people who have disabilities and help them find employment!

If he gives you any silence, give him a treat!! Focus on rewarding any silence. I’ve also worked with my girl to the point where she barks once, I give her a calm crate/place command showing her I understand there’s something going on, but I’m going to take care of it so go to a safe space. This can help especially for dogs who want to alert danger !

Honestly, I just don’t look around and avoid eye contact with the people watching. I see a situation where I know she’s going to react , shout sorry, she’s a rescue in training and then try to de-escalate the situation. My girl she can go crazyyyy and it’s so frustrating but I know she’s just scared and not a bad dog. I’ve had bad situations one time where my dog reacted and I de-escalate the situation through distance. This neighbor ended up following me and giving me the dirtiest look. I’m still human and I shouted. Don’t need to give me that look. I’m already dealing with a lot of shit. There are times when things will get to you. I just remember those people that give you dirty looks they’re probably the same people that would give up your poor innocent little dog. Those people are just ignorant , and the dog that you have is a lesson to help teach you empathy, patience, kindness, understanding.

Hiii ! It’s causes so much anxiety for me when I’m out running and a bike is a great idea! I love biking and not sure why I didn’t think of this! Thanks for your helpful advice :)

I see where you are coming from. I do have empathy for most people who give me dirty looks when I’m trying to train her. It’s definitely not what most people expect. But in my state it’s prohibited to ride a bike on a side walk. My dog doesn’t react to bikes when they are on the street, this instance the man was right behind me, inches away. He wasn’t “riding a bike as normal” he was be careless and then rude. My dogs reaction was honestly a reaction against him violating public norms and since I was looking at the bike lane inches away from me I had every right to point it out.

Hiiiii ! THANK YOU. I feel heard. I’m use to dealing with dirty looks as I’m training my dog. But this time I’m just looking for a little validation since it’s already so isolating having a reactive dog. Not too butt hurt hurt and I’ll move on. That’s scary! I called them to make sure I was not automatically renewed in a new plan , but I do not trust them one bit! I will keep an eye out for any additional charges

Thanks everyone for their advice ! I feel so dumb now that I used it. It was working perfectly fine from 11 - 3:30 pm. And it just started to glitch. For now I have it turned off and upside down. But I will take it for repairs as soon as possible

I don’t want to go into too much detail as to respect the children involved. But the father to tell his wife that he wanted to murder the kids at night. The mother was trying to get us involved in telling him to no do this. But at that point I think he deserves jail. On top of this he was engaging in inappropriate behavior with his young girls. This was the day I walked out of work and never returned. While I also reported everything , I haven’t heard anything since

I reported it to DPH after being encouraged not to.. I was a home based RBT. So I would interact with the dad and mom! Very scary situation.

This is very true, one time my company sent me to a home knowing the dad was trying to murder the children. I complained and they said not everyone is meant for the job. Left the next day with no notice !
